I was confused as to the results as well.
Guessing the Mantle and Rose crossed to PSA 8, did the others get the minimum grades requested?

Crossing 8.5 to 8.5 is basically impossible in my experience. Crossing vintage HOF in high grades is very tough to do. You basically have to be willing to take a lower grade from everything I've seen. I actually think every card should have crossed. They all look extremely high end.

I submitted in two (2) groups: 1956 Mantle, 1963 Rose RC and 1955 Aaron in one earlier submission then 1955 Jackie Robinson, 1958 Koufax and 1959 Gibson RC in a second later submission. I requested the following minimum grades:

    1955 Jackie Robinson PSA-8
    1955 Aaron PSA-9
    1956 Mantle PSA-8
    1958 Koufax PSA-8.5
    1959 Gibson RC PSA-8.5
    1963 Rose RC PSA-8

Three (3) received grades: Mantle, Rose RC and Jackie Robinson

Three (3) did not slab with a PSA holder…but received Minimum Grade Requirement: Aaron, Koufax and Gibson RC

I posted first results in an earlier thread which I will move up the threads.

Slabnostic is the way to be. No fees to cross and better deals on SGC. The cards are beautiful in any holder and PSA snobbery is the main reason they didn’t cross.

So it looks like one crossed equal, two went down a half, and three were were not able to cross at your minimum grade which you set at equal to the SGC grade?

They are all smoking hot cards, and I'd be proud to own any of them, but in my opinion sending cards in another company's holder will never get an objective review.

I am not saying it is done intentionally, but giving PSA a starting point (a card where they can see the grade) and asking them to admit they are more lenient than another TPG (by increasing the grade) just isn't reality.

I agree about cracking and submitting for best possible grades but in the current climate of tougher grading standards I would be scared.

There is also the risk of damaging a card when cracking out…

Agreed with the risk when cracking. But I would wager better than 50-50 you'd get the desired grades if you were to crack and submit raw. But with cards of this caliber, I wouldn't want to invite potential damage with additional handling and reslabbing etc. Perhaps if I could submit them raw in person? I might then. Regardless -- beautiful cards!!!

I like that CSG makes it a point to state:
"CGC Cards treats Beckett BCCG encapsulated cards as raw cards. BCCG cards will be removed from their holders and crossed at any grade."
