Interesting return packaging from PCGS today

PCGS has been sending orders back Fedex since early this year and that works great for me as i can request a hold at the local Fedex terminal and pick it up without worry. The box inside the plastic Fedex bag was taped as shown in the photo, curious if they did this as a preventative measure against tampering?
Also, the mint green 35th anniversary box was a nice bonus!
What say ye?

It’s security tape; it can’t be taken off and resealed, it will rip in the process and therefore will show evidence of any tampering. All my return boxes have this, as far as I can recall. Although, whoever put it on your box did so sloppily.

I was notified today that I have a return coin shipment coming.
I wonder if it will look like that.

Just for clarity, my last 15 or so orders are that identical box with a short piece of filament tape closing the box then put inside the Fedex bag, this parcel was taped as per the photo and also placed inside the Fedex bag…
I am curious if this is an added security measure?

Could just be a different person on the packaging lines. My last several have been a piece of tape closing the coin box, the cardboard box folded shut without tape, inside of a fedex bag.

I love it this way because those shipping boxes without tape are easily reusable.

They use to use it all the time and it has seemed that they have not been using it recently. That tape is required for registered mail. I sent in a $100K coin registered in the last 6 months and it came back without that tape. I thought it would be registered - nope.

The last shipment I received (a while ago) had the tape on the plastic box and the cardboard box. Cheers, RickO

    I received my coin today.
    It came well packaged.
It was enclosed in the Fedex shipping bag.
Inside of this was the cardboard box which contained a black Pcgs 20 coin slab box.
What surprised me was the fact that I had only one coin graded.

Back in 2021 I correctly guessed the price of gold on a particular date for a prize 1/10th oz gold AGE that had been graded by PCGS, came in the box which you can just guess just had to be filled up with more coins!
