Early Find or First Week Of Discovery?

@alaura22- I never quite understood the Early Find or First Week of Discovery thing. I'd rather found an MS67 tomorrow, rather then found or have an MS64, 65 or 66 during The First Week of Discovery.
An MS64, 65 or 66 First Week of Discovery slab doesn't mean much to me.

Here is a link to the set for these coins
https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/u-s-coins/washington-quarters-specialty-sets/pcgs-2019-quarter-quest/7203
Here's a description of the set
To celebrate 2019βs National Coin Week, the U.S. Mint released 10,000,000 America the Beautiful quarters with the βWβ Mint Mark into circulation. To continue the celebration of National Coin Week and this first-of-its-kind event for the U.S. Mint in its 227-year history, PCGS has offered multiple rewards and limited-edition pedigrees for the first submissions of these 2019-W quarters to PCGS for authentication and grading. As a part of the PCGS 2019 Quarter Quest, you can build and compete with a set of all five variations of the 2019-W quarters bearing the βWβ West Point mint mark and graded Mint State.
Let the hunt begin!
Notes: The 2019-W Lowell National Park quarters receiving the βFirst Discoveryβ pedigree will receive ten bonus points, each of the additional versions of the 2019-W quarters that receive the βFirst Discoveryβ pedigree will receive five bonus points. Coins receiving the βFirst Weekβ pedigree will receive three bonus points, coins receiving the βEarly Findβ pedigree will receive one bonus point, all other coins and labels will not receive bonus points.

Agreed, I don't get it either. I collect Seated Quarters though, so first week of discovery was sometime in August 1838.
Not a big deal, just something I was thinking about and thought I'd get some opinions.

I just like finding unique coins... No matter what week. Still looking for W quarters. Cheers, RickO
Hey @ricko- I bet your chances of finding a W quarter in the wild would increase 1000%, if you spent 50% less time on this forum. π π€£..............Am I right? π

I guess it comes down to personal preference but which would you rather have?

I am strictly a PCGS man.
The coins that I have posted are just a part of my matched W quarter sets.
The 2019 are in MS66 and the 2020 are in MS65.
There are holes that still need to be filled but the 3 different sets are
1) First week of Discovery
2) Early Find
3) Business Strike.
I am in no hurry to complete them and I buy the missing ones when the price is right.

Kennedys are my quest...
Aren't they all business strikes?

So I donβt know if this is related, but I used to work with an engineer who told me that his father-in-law was the first one to discover the 1938 D/S Buffalo nickel in 1962, I believe. I asked him if it was for sale and I would be interested in purchasing it and discussions were ongoing. Nothing ever came of it. Oh well would have been neat to have had it.
The wooden slabs made it hard to see the coin.
Couldn't you say that about the entire hobby?
