I am pleasantly surprised how this purchase turned out

I picked up this Ike for under $20. on eBay kind of on a whim. I hadn't heard of the grading service and I discovered, thanks to the members here- it was a fly-by-night outfit.
Here are some iPhone pics. The luster isn't showing as they were taken with indoor sunlight shade.
It is prettier than I thought it would be and the added bonus is the Philly mint is a bit tougher for the Ike series in 1971.

Here are some quick indoor using room lighting:

The second set of pics are much nicer. Nice coin and holder! 👍🏻
Is that slab sonically-sealed? Although, I'm sure you know it's not a 70.

Nice NT toned coin.![B) B)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
I wonder if it was white when it was first slabbed and the slab insert caused the peripheral toning over time.

Not bad at all for $20!
Have you guys heard of TGS?

Nope. But it looks like an UNC toner with great eye appeal that would straight grade at our host. That’s worth $20 in my book.
Well, since the slab says MS-70 I guess it should be UNC. 😉

That low slab number might make it worth the price.

Nice pick up @braddick , having now seen it in hand, what's your opinion of its true grade?
Are you saying this slab is a reputable company?

MS64. Just too many tics for a 5.

Sweet, still a score for under 20![B) B)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)

Thanks for that link. Is the slab sonically-sealed?

Yes. It looks like it would crack open fairly easily though (like an ANACS slab).

Thanks for that! 👍🏻

Incredible... I don't see a mark anywhere on that Ike!
I had a peace dollar in a plastic case that toned just like that.
"I like Ike"!
Well... It is an Ike dollar... I can agree with the MS part, but IMO a 62 or 63... Cheers, RickO
MS 62, IMO.
Am I missing something here ? I see several marks & tics. Still a nice Ike. but.......

WHOOPS Missed it. LOL Seems like I'm missing everything today. My bad sir.
i like the second set of pics as well. you did good with the price as well, congrats
I have a few of these Ikes my dad and I bought from the US Mint when I was a kid, 1970's. And a few that have toned in this way from sitting in their gov. holders. Haven't figured just what to do with them yet.
Nice pick up though.
