Lunch bet: Artificial or Natural tone

PppPpp Posts: 511 ✭✭✭✭

Lunch is on the line. My buddy wants to sell this coin and he says it is naturally toned and I said it is artificially toned. I am not really into toned coins so did I mess up taking this bet? Who is right?

    I think he's buying.

Is the bottom of the obverse side pink or is the picture deceiving me?

That light blue coloring is indicative of artificial tone, like a heat source was applied to the coin. Now go order a steak.

1madman: I don’t have the coin in hand and I don’t remember regarding your question. Regardless, I like the two replies do far. 🙂

Looks artificial to me. Order up a lobster to go with that steak.

When I see an area in the patina that could support a finger tip, it's an automatic flag until explained.
On the other hand, I'm floored by the pattern that was created. Very nice.
Also, that about sums up whats going on in the east coast. (AT or NT ?)

    I’d order steak & lobster.

    Artificial toning.

But order the real Waygo, with King Crab legs, and a tall Firefall Red to go with the meal.

Thank you everyone for your comments.
Since it was unanimous AT I am really going to enjoy lunch. Yum. 🙂

My vote on that coin is AT.... Not extreme, mildly done to pass the less experienced scrutiny. Cheers, RickO

Whenever I see identical toning on the obverse and reverse, I immediately think AT.
