Interesting Penny

Hello, I am new to the forum. I found this penny the other day in my change. Any thought as to what might be going on?

Maybe trying to make a button out of it.

    That is major damage.

It is not an error. There is no way for that to happen at the Mint. Someone was turning it into either a button or some other doodad and either made a mistake or got bored.

The only way it could be an error is if it happened during the striking of the coin.
Anything that happens after that is damage. Yours is damage.

@erik1966... Welcome aboard. Your coin has Post Mint Damage (PMD) and no numismatic premium. Cheers, RickO
