My PCGS 2019-P Apollo 11 Silver Dollar holder will not fit my slab box. What do I do? This is affecting my OCD!

Can you tell me what the EXACT width of the box is?

I believe on another site Jack Young told you this was indicative of a fake slab.

Can we get a pic of this oversized slab lying next to a slab that does fit your box?

Get a box that doesn't have slots.

Can you take a photo of both sides of the slab?

Agree. Also, I think a pic of this slab that doesn't fit next to another slab that does fit would be useful to get some idea of the difference in size.

The basketball hall of fame coin is curved which requires a thicker slab. Is that the problem?

Would an "official" PCGS box work?

  • braddickbraddick Posts: 24,181 ✭✭✭✭✭

Throw them all into a box, shake them up a bit, and put that box back in the safe.
That will at least cure your OCD.

@Jzyskowski1- Your box and @Russell12 box, are to different boxes.

Understood. Why I mentioned cheap cost of pcgs. Boxes. But while it’s not the same exact box I’ve got some of those and we’ll. Ok never mind 🙃

    Ok, Here's what I did
I took the box to the garage, I put an end mill in my milling machine and I removed 1web on both sides of the box between the coin slots. If you have the complete set, make sure you remove the webs in the correct place so that when you put the other coins in the coins end up in order.
I am in the process of selling my set so I do have my modified boxes. If I get a chance I will take a pic to show you what I'm talking about.
Yeah, it bothered me too :o

If you don't have a milling machine, you may be able to shave the divider flange down with a sharp chisel.

Yes, it would take a bit of effort because the plastic is pretty hard, but it could be done. That or a little grinder/dremel.
You mean everybody doesn't have a milling machine in there garage?

I just said what I did...........

Such issues never concern me. I just put the coin/slab in a cabinet, or the safe, or a shelf by my computer. Too busy having fun to let little things bother me.... ;) Cheers, RickO
