Mount Removed?

Was looking at 1909 Lincolns on GC and came across this coin. Can someone explain "Mount Removed"? Was the coin in a piece of jewelry prior?
thanks, Mark

In a way, that is a cool coin to own.
I wish it were TrueViewed- it would show the area of the removed mount so well.

It could have been in a pressure clasp.... But more likely had a soldered clip on it. A visual would likely show clearly what it was. Cheers, RickO
Don't see slabs with explanations like that very often..............
As a matter of fact: Never.

Maybe I'm thinking (primarily) of NGC, but I've handled tons of coins in details/Mount Removed holders.
It just shows how sheltered I am from the mainstream realities of this Hobby.

Why would you mount a 1 cent coin?
Could have been encased rather than mounted:

No need to second guess yourself @airplanenut - there are plenty of PCGS examples too. See link below

Mark Feld* of Heritage Auctions*Unless otherwise noted, my posts here represent my personal opinions.
Keychain, encased cent, pendant, bolo, money clip, lots of reasons. We've seen them gold washed and bezeled for necklaces.

I was thinking jewelry, forgot about all the widgets.
Cufflinks in my opinion.
GC shows both sides of the coin so if the reverse is clean with no solder residue, then it would be a clasp mount, holding the coin by the outside of the rim.
Still a very interesting label.

Here are some larger photos of the coin from GC. Is that solder on the edge or damage from clasp?
Mark
Yup, it's both but it's still a nice cent. Peace Roy

It reminds me of the cent shot up into space.

Next we are going to have a Martian come onto the boards with its parking lot find Lincoln cent!

But when I'm at work and supposed to be working, it's faster to second guess myself than search around on my phone![;) ;)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Thanks for the pictures @MJPHELAN.
Looks like it was silver soldered at twelve o’clock so it must have been a bezel mount.

Just makes you wonder why it was graded in the first place?
It is worth 10 dollars IF it wasn’t damaged…
you see it quite often with small gold
small loops on the edge to have in necklace or bracelet
It was worth $8.00 to someone.
