It's that thing when you can't tell if she's gorgeous or hideous.

So you tell me. Gorgeous or hideous?

More hideous than gorgeous.
Not attractive that is for sure. Believe a quick dip can turn that gal around. Maybe Redfield peach juice.
Hideous.
It may seem ok tonight, but you'll regret bringing her home in the morning.

A coin I would pass on.
I like it

THANK you, @ChrisH821 . I knew there had to be a few guys out there who dig her.
The contrast between yellow/peach and stark white, and the crazy luster, really need to be seen in hand.

When I saw the pics, my first thought was of the Redfield hoard. I read that he didn't trust banks and he stored bags of silver dollars hidden in the walls of his house. He also hoarded many cans of peaches with the silver dollars and many of these cans of peaches exploded and stained many of his silver dollars. After he died, IRS agents searched his house because he owed a lot in back taxes. When they found the silver dollar hoard, they found a note left by Redfield that said "Whoever finds these silver dollars, don't tell the IRS".![:D :D](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)

Not the best I’ve ever seen but far from hideous.
Perfectly acceptable.

I like it. PCI holders are notorious for toning like this.
It is the unknown if it is lustrous or not.
With blazing, booming luster, that golden tone would be attractive.
If it is dull and lifeless that "golden" toning takes on a more menacing look.

not a big fan of the toning

This is one of the few exceptions where I would say, I would want to dip.
Under that toning, there’s got to be a really pretty coin. I can tell it’s well struck and got great luster.

I love wonderous variety in my collection. Would snatch that up far before I would get any of a hundred clones. James
Would be more acceptable if the streaky toning wasn't on her face. If I didn't pass completely, I believe it would be submitted for conservation.
I don't know about "notorious" per se but I do agree that I have seen several wild toners in their holders.
I like the color of this piece but the weird patterns make me wonder how this could happen naturally.

This coin is a candidate for being purchased on line at 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning by a collector (who has had too much to eat and drink after leaving work on Friday afternoon) who is itching to bring home a new coin after trying and failing to do so for the past 7-8 hours.
Sort of like going to a bar on Friday night and staying until closing time at 2:00 a.m. The closer to closing time one gets, the better looking persons still at the bar look.
For the record, I like the coin too. But that’s a different matter from thinking it’s gorgeous.
Regarding speculation about the coin being from the Redfield hoard - my recollection is that many or most Redfield coins exhibit toning that’s less translucent and more mottled than seen on this one.

Perhaps "notorious" is too strong, yet close enough.

I can appreciate it. I'd take that over a plain white one. It's unique and a pretty color despite the splotchiness. We all know that date comes flashy and I haven't even looked at the video posted yet.

To me the toning reminds me of something varnished and its peeling off. If it were a smooth transition i could like it, this one tho, my ocd would kick in everytime i looked at it and i would want to dip it.

Not really my "cup of tea". I dont mind understated toning and there appears and be some luster under the color but the pukey yellow isn't what I typically associate with "color" on a Morgan Dollar.
Hopefully, she'll find a good home before closing time...

No, can you elaborate?
There is something about those older PCI holders, the toning can be, ahh, interesting.

What’s the “hmmm” for? Many coins tone in holders, without any intentional assistance.

Don't recall saying they can't...
What I am saying is that at a minimum, the PCI holders from this period weren't sealed very well, allowing air or perhaps other gases in.
RIP Mom- 1932-2012
They may not be completely air tight...
I think it's also widely believed that the plastic is full of chemicals that accelerate the tarnish, not unlike the small Anacs holders of that era.

I like the color but not the pattern.
I'm in the "more gorgeous than hideous" camp! Then again, my standards have softened with age.
