I have a 6 inch coin tube in a box that I bought at the Dahlonega coin museum in 1990. Lots of gold flakes. Would anyone hazard a guess as to its value? Looks pretty full.
Thanks.

The first step might be to weigh the flakes. Did it come with an assay?
I knew it would happen.
No... The outside of the tube says "pure gold" and the box says Dahlonega Gold Museum.
Gold was much cheaper in 1990.... Get a good scale, pour out the gold dust on the scale and get the weight. (Be careful not to sneeze ) Then you will have the answer. Cheers, RickO
The D stuff is very collectible in the area here (southeast). I bet you could sell it for way more than the gold content.
Is the tube sealed? Can we get a pic or two?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

ok will send picture! it is a drop over 5 inches long (the tube)
If that is what I think it is... it is kitsch gift shop stuff with little intrinsic value. May have interest because it came from Dahlonega museum but there is little if ANY gold in that flake. It is usually electroplated copper.

well that took a twist.

I spent a half hour looking for Dahlonega gold in nuggets or flakes.
Finally said next.
I see a wee.Dahlonega?
Maybe they could find something there, but would need a better picture of that label.
Google wasn't much help.
If it's anything like the rest of the vials of flakes floating around, little to no worth.
