This is a hard coin to find. I got it from Northern Nevada coin. POP report says it is a pop 5/1 but I think it is harder. This coin is set to arrive on friday. I own 4 other MS examples just none this high. Not happy with the strike vs. some of my others but the fields are great in the pics. It appears to be a proof die obverse with an MS reverse. From what I read it was not uncommon to use proof dies for circ strike coins in the era. Maybe some of the seated dime folks can opine on the story. It probably was dipped at one point, at least by someone who knew what they were doing since it still got CAC.

If there are only 5 in that grade its going to be hard to find.

That’s terrific looking. Love the mirrored/cameo obverse paired with the non-PL reverse.

I believe your coin is F-112, based on date position, die scratch into shield, and reverse die line.
The F-112 plate photo also shows a somewhat flat head like yours.

It does not match the date position of the 2 known proof dies.
    An interesting coin, for sure.

Hopefully Gerry Fortin reads this since I think he knows more about this than anyone.

You can see the die line into shield fairly clearly in the max TrueView photo.

I study seated half dime die varieties, and they are similar in many ways to seated dimes.
