Counterfeit.
Definitely
Do you think modern counterfeit? Or from that time period? I was intrigued by the obverse being correct design but the reverse having such wrong design to it?

How do the diameter and composition compare to a regular dime? It looks almost copper in your image.
To me it looks like someone tried to make transfer dies and the reverse did not come out, so they made a half-hearted attempt to complete the die by hand. would guess it was done contemporary to when that design was circulating.

Contemporary counterfeit and as such worth much more than if it was genuine.

Looks contemporary to the period. Cool!
Vintage counterfeit, made of copper/brass/bronze alloy (probably with a silver wash at one time).
There are people that collect this sort of thing.
Contemporary counterfeit.
Looks like a counterfeit made during the period the dimes circulated. From appearance, it likely fooled a lot of people. Probably a bit of a premium from those who collect these items. Cheers, RickO
