Once again - getting too greedy gets you some Stainless Steel bracelets. I'm sure this wasn't her first theft..........Kudos to the USPS to investigate one of their own.

What i find interesting is the NGC has a recording system for missing pieces ....
"... A store customer purchased the coin at Heartfield’s and entered its serial number into the NGC database. That was when the customer was alerted that the coin had been reported stolen and we were contacted..."

The article towards the end commented about PCGS .... " .. .I have spoken with officials at Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and they confirmed they are reviewing ways to implement a similar notification with their grading service. "

I had a piece being shipped to me and I believed was stolen at a UPS center in Dec 2021, I just put that PCGS cert number into the verification system and it still shows up active and without any red flags. Gee - I would think this would not be a hard to build in a warning system. Then again I am not sure if STACKS Auctions implemented any recovery procedures - I was reimbursed very rapidly by Stacks so any claims I had on the piece were removed.

Thinking out loud, how many crooks steal a certified / slab coin and just leave it in a slab when they sell it off ... oops at least 2 we know!

It is just mind boggling that with the rampant and criminal enterprise level of thefts, they were not able to nail the thieves until they got lucky with the fact that the coins were not cracked out of the holders.

Well, NGC is very often leading the way and the innovator, and others then follow (or not)..........

According to the article it was the perseverance of one USPS inspector, along with Doug Davis. The local USPS stonewalled.

“When challenged, local post office representatives repeatedly assured us the packages were being stolen after they left their distribution facility here. However, the thefts were happening at the local post office. “Had it not been for Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), former Texas Police Chief Doug Davis of the Numismatic Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Oz Fong, a dedicated investigator with the U.S.P.S. Office of Inspector General, we may have never discovered what was really happening to our shipments,” stated Fuljenz.

I doubt she will see much, if any, prison time based on this article:
    https://www.theexaminer.com/tags/pamela-jo-rosas
A Beaumont postal worker has signed a sealed plea agreement with the United States government, admitting to the theft of up to $5 million in gold coins and assorted goods sent through the U.S.

Send her south of the border and let her pay the cartels to migrate back.

What on earth could she has given them to get no jail time???? I guess we will never know since it's a sealed agreement.
At least her son is dead so we don't have to worry about him,
This is why it will never end, no punishment!

It is really good that the perpetrator was identified and caught. No jail time is unbelievable and unacceptable. Cheers, RickO

What's the rest of the story?
    So much for transparency.
This should be front page news.
Did she give up someone higher up in the USPS office chain?
I say taken both or all of the above.
This plea deal crap is why it still continues.

Few mo back. I had a $50 coin package (Slabbed NS69 ASE) missing vs the reported delivery time. A week later it shows up in my PO box with a note “sorry put in my box by mistake.” It had been opened and resealed. Then I guess they put it in the outgoing box inside / dunno. Perhaps some dunce clerk put it in the wrong box or a thief felt it not big enough game. Irregardless shipping big ticket packages makes me nervous in this current tough times environment. My advice anything shipping make sure it’s adequately insured with tracking. Signature upon receipt not bad idea either.

At this very same time po shutdown due to undisclosed reason. 2 days before it’s reopening I got message a banknote submission arrived at my POB with sig conf. I got over the day they reopened went to POB high anxiety - no sig conf - went to counter clerk recognized me brought my package. Everything ok and just glad my graded notes All there. But why no sig receipt?

Is the above incompetence or what? And why was po shut down for a week? What bad luck have subm package coming in at that time. The thing that really un nerves me with this thread it wasn’t stolen in transit but at the receiving or point of origin location.
