Not surprising - but looks to be going down to the wire.
Atlanta came to play tonight,Boston didn't. They went away from everything that worked for them in their previous two home games and the Hawks offense did their thing. Hopefully sunday has a different result.

Kawhi & Paul George both. That PG trade to the Clippers may end up haunting LA for years. They gave up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander,who just averaged 30+ppg, plus five first round picks. Although I shouldn't talk seeing that Boston's Kyrie Irving/Gordon Hayward experiment was just as bad lol.

That Knicks team is so tough this season. They have a solid floor general in Brunson and a good defensive minded head coach. That being said I think the Cavs come back and win game 4.They made the needed adjustments going into game 2,get this next one and its just a best of 3 after that.
Man, so many players are going down with injuries in these playoffs. First Ja,Giannis,Herro & Embiid, then Marcus Smart,Jimmy Butler & Victor Oladipo. Not to mention Kawhi with his usual injuries as well as Paul George.
Dillon Brooks just wacked Lebron in the cojones the same way that Harden did a few days back and Brooks just got tossed from the game. At least the refs are consistenet on this one.
Surprising yesterday that LA took it to the Grizzlies even with Morant getting 45. Not really surprising Miami beat the Bucks who were without Giannis.

Very impressed with JB.
Very impressed by Horford with a tremendously high value zero points game. Love it!
Timelord was excellent.
I'm always critical of Tatum. I liked how he had no repercussions or lack of confidence from shooting poorly from deep earlier, and when it counted hit several key 3s.

Horford had zero points and I specifically went to CB to see how many people were complaining about but didn't find many. He was outstanding tonight doing all of the other little things though with 11reb/5ass/2st for a team high +17.
This might have been our best balance team effort of all season...our stars had 31 each, Smart 19,White 18,Brogdon 14 & Timelord 13. We need this type of effort every game.
Hawks guard Dejounte Murray bumps into a ref after the game,I'd be surorised if he doesn't get suspended one game for this. Boston forward Grant Williams did the same earlier in the year trying to run by a ref and it cost him one game. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrZwbOfMWKZ/
I am not going to start a new thread for this, and I apologize if this doesn't fit here. If this thread was playoffs plus random NBA talk, it would fit. Again, my apologies in advance.
@erikthredd you know my cousin up in Massachusetts. We are texting this morning, and our conversation is all over the place, like a thread in here. And then we get to Dirk vs Durant. Why, I don't know. Actually, I do, but I'll spare you. Anyway,
I said that I refuse to say that Durant is better than Dirk, but admit that the majority of people would put Durant higher.
So if anyone reads this and is team Dirk, let me know. Lol.
Even years later, just bump this thread. Seriously.
Me thinks that Round 2 of the playoffs will be very entertaining and compelling.
In the west point guard De'Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings is "must see TV".
If the Kings and Grizzlies beat the Warriors and Lakers then the highlight of a Kings v. Grizzlies Round 2 match up will be De'Aaron Fox v. Ja Morant. If the Warriors and Lakers advance to Round 2 it will be a deja vu reunion of LeBron James v. Steph Curry. If the Warriors and Grizzlies advance it will be a repeat of the last year's Warriors v. Grizzlies match up (with Curry v. Morant at point guard; and with Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks sniping at each other). If the Kings and Lakers advance the Kings will have a chance to avenge their loss to the Lakers in game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals.
In the east Philly awaits the winner of Boston v. Atlanta (probably the Celtics). Philly v. Boston will have plenty of fireworks. Can the Celtics slow down Embid (and is he going to be at full strength after recovering his his most recent injury). The Bucks (with Giannis out) may have problems getting past Miami and if they do the most likely will face the Knicks in Round 2. The Knicks are playing very well. MSG is rocking, Spike Lee is in heaven and the sports media will have something interesting to write about in its coverage of the 2023 playoffs.
Hopefully, even if it is Bucks getting through this round and the next, they have had to really work and been put through it. That's how I see it as a Celtics fan.
And I have spent some time thinking about my team, and I am now at the point where I do not see how it is not us as the favorites here. We have too much to throw at opposing teams, both offensively and defensively.
I'd rather see the Warriors and Lakers sent home.
Either way, like you said @SanctionII , second round should be really good.
If the Kings win Round 1 over the Warriors I hope that they thereafter win the West and play in the Finals. I would also like to see the Clippers and Nuggets play in the Finals (neither of these teams have ever made it to the Finals). I doubt the Clippers will this year due to injury. Denver is playing very well, but I suspect the NBA brass, the sports media and advertisers would prefer a more high profile team in the finals.
Ratings wise I suspect that a finals with either the Warriors or Lakers v. either the Celtics, Philly or the Knicks would be preferred by the NBA, the sports media and advertisers.

Fox has been so much fun to watch over the past week plus but not just him,its the entire team especipally when they're in front of their own fans. Steph Curry almost Chris Wbber'd that last game all by himself in the closing moments but their defense came through at the end. That Kings-Dubs series has been very entertaining so far,I'd love to see it go 7 with the Kings moving on.
Even though the Lakers are up 2-1 its still tough to predict who comes out on top,Lebron & AD should be enough to carry them into the next round but,I swear,Davis has at least 2-3 incidents a game where he looks like he's about to go down any minute with a a longterm injury. The Griz need to start playing more like a team, imo. Morant goes off for an incredible 45/12/9 game but they looked like a one man show in that last loss.
The Bucks get Giannis back tonight but if he's not close to 100% there are no guarantees that the Bucks head back to Milwaukee tied at 2-2. The Heat are dealing with their own injuries with Herro & Oladipo done for the year and Butler questionable for tonight's game.
This might be the best Knicks team since Jeff Van Gundy led them to the Finals 20+years ago. The Cavs are looking like this playoff trip was a learning experience for many of their players.
Phoenix & Denver both look like two teams ready to move on tfrom this round and possibly meet up in the WCF.
I'm so looking forward to the Celtics/76ers in round two, assuming Boston wins game 5 at home tomorrow. The only question is will Embiid be a go for game 1?
These playoffs have been pretty good so far. I've caught,at least, parts of every game up until last night's DEN/MIN game and a case could be made for so many different teams possibly winning it this year.
@thisistheshow said:
I'm reading a lot of hype for Phoenix.
The thing with the that team is any of their top 3 players could go down with an injury at any givent moment, their history in that department isn't all that great. Also the team isn't very deep after the starting five, it really is boom or bust, for at least this season, after making that KD deal.
@SanctionII said:
De'Aaron Fox suffered a broken finger on his shooting hand.
It is possible that he may not play in Game 5 (that would be disappointing).
Thats now Fox,Giannis,Embiid,Kawhi,Butler,Ja Morant,Tyler Herro,Victor Oladipo,Julius Randle and Kyle Anderson just off of the top of my head that all went down. This first round has been brutal with injuries and we haven't seen a single series play a game 5 yet.
Wow Milwaukee just blew tying this series 2-2. Went into the 4th up 11 then lose by 5. They had the #1 seed and go home for game 5 down 3-1.
I've never really been a fan of Jimmy Butler,I thought he was a bit overrated, but he just willed his team to a win after the Heat being behind most of the game. He topped a triple double from Giannis w/26/13/10 and 36 from Brook Lopez by going off for Heat team playoff record 56pts.
Just a half hour ago at the start of the 4th I was thinking the Heat weren't going to have a chance in this series after losing two players to injury and having no real secondary scorer. Butler was like hold my beer lol, that was an incredible performance w/21 in the 4th quarter alone. Caleb Martin hit some timely threes too.
The Bucks have to be reeling right now. This is the deepest Bucks team since Giannis got drafted and even with Giannis getting hurt they should be up in this series.
Miami's trying to be the fifth #8 seed in NBA history to take down a #1 in the playoffs.

De'Aaron Fox suffered a broken finger on his shooting hand.
It is possible that he may not play in Game 5 (that would be disappointing).

I had already accepted, via Seinfeld gif.

@galaxy27 alright , let's flesh this thing out a bit.
What are the 🥩s?
Jimmy Butler is doing all he can to make sure Miami gets a win tonight with 22pts halfway thru the 2nd.

big-time choke job by the Bucks
Miami now with 3 shots to take them out

Butler 56 points. "nuff said

The Bucks have to be reeling right now. This is the deepest Bucks team since Giannis got drafted and even with Giannis getting hurt they should be up in this series.
Miami's trying to be the fifth #8 seed in NBA history to take down a #1 in the playoffs.
