Interesting. Very weak strike for the obverse central area. But decent detail elsewhere and the reverse. After comparing with the PCGS Photograde I'll guess F12 as well.
VG08 obverse with a F12 Reverse, so probably VG08. Not familiar enough with Capped Bust Halves to know the strike strengths/weaknesses for the various years which might affect the grade.

If I’m trying to guess the TPG grade I’m going to say they gave it an 8 because my experience is that they don’t properly adjust for striking weakness caused by cracks or die bulge.
Goal is to get a good number of the coolest die states in my current set, so I won't be turning up my nose at lower grade examples... particularly when they have a nice look like this one.
As far as 1809 goes though, I'm hoping to find a nice 109b!
Nice cameo effect on obverse. Is that a die break? I'm going with an overall VG10.
Yep, the cool die break makes it a fairly popular variety.
The reverse has what I think are 2 or 3 rows of clashed dentils under America and arrow heads... these kind of "tracks" seem to be an 1809 thing, other marriages have their own versions as well 🤔
The posters who went with this concept nailed it IMO.. as did every other guess actually..
I had a very choice VF20 at one point with about the same amount of detail..
After taking a good look at at it, I graded this one $200.
The seller graded it a little bit higher..😄
PCGS graded it as you would expect..
TPG undergrading is starting to get on my nerves. It is so common with this type. I had it at F-15. Not quite VF.

I hear ya @jacrispies... although it goes both ways.
Bummer when it's your own raw coins you sent in... not so bad when you find nice coins in slabs that are undergraded 😄

Totally agree! That aspect adds to the thrill of the hunt, as long as you know what to look for

I'll stick with my first guess, which we did over PM yesterday.

VG-10, let's see if PCGS accounted for strike weakness or not...

Cool circ half, I'm at 8/12.
If there was such a grade, that's mine.

VG10 or F12 based on descriptions in the ANA grading standard. Very nice!

Well... I thought F15... I get optimistic down in this area I guess...
