What is the Premium for Soft Pack GSA Morgan's What is it's realistic value?

I'm kind of curious how everyone here views the GSA soft packs. I see many sellers attempting to sell soft packs on eBay for astronomical prices. They appear to view a POP 1 as a normal POP 1 coin, probably quite over-valued if that is their aim. I do own a few of these and bought them some years ago at decent prices. I would assume there is some value as would be an older, desirable TPG slab. To my knowledge there is not a specific Greysheet price for these... that is correct?

How do you dealer folks value these if they come into your shop or show table? How do you value them as to their realistic sales price?

Sorry I had trouble moving info from another file, bold number is what I found @ NGC for each pop figure. There may be a few VAMs not accounted for.

Maybe I scared off any comments. I'm not looking for a value of the specific coin I pictured, that was just an example of one of my own coins. I am still wondering how everyone would determine value of soft pack GSA Morgans in general terms since I can't find "guide prices" and many of the offered coins will never sell based on ridiculous asking prices... I think. The Greysheet appears to only list hard pack pricing (At least as of 2018 - last date I own)

I am considering to pick up a couple but I am a bit baffled on how to best determine a reasonable price for both myself and the seller.

That’s the first one of those I’ve seen or heard of. I thought you were referring to the Ike’s in the soft packs. I have seen and learned alot but never get too surprised by something new. Thanks 😳

You are probably very familiar with the CC dollars that were almost exclusively uncirculated in the hard packs. Most but not all were CC minted coins. Those were sold thru a bid process. There were a lesser number minted in the other mints also in those hard plastic packs similar to the Ikes.

The pictured Morgan is one of about 100,000 circulated coins... mostly Morgans with a few Peace dollars and even a couple Seated Liberty coins. Those too were sold via a mail bid process. Do an eBay search on "GSA soft pack". They sell (asking price) for a decent premium over the non-GSA coins. I've never been able to nail down pricing with any accuracy... to my knowledge there is no "Greysheet type guide price". Kind of the wild west of the coin hobby!!

Interesting question and premise. Also great facts regarding the NGC populations.

You may want to rephrase the title with "What is the Premium for Soft Pack GSA Morgan's", or something similar.

I don't know the answer, but hope some with more knowledge chime in.

Great Collections auctioned maybe 100 of these a couple of years ago. They went for huge premiums, especially the lower grades. Not sure if it's searchable on their site.

Years ago, when assembling my set of CC Morgans, I purchased several of the hard packs.. a few were still in the unopened, government packing - which I promptly opened. :D Did not get any soft packs though. Cheers, RickO

All of mine are CC hard packs, I haven't purchased any soft packs yet. Tempted, but probably won't. I'm trying to stay with the hard packs. Surprisingly they are still asking premium; priced almost as much as the hard packs.

Yeah I'm actually kind of surprised CC hard packs have held up... probably almost doubled since I bought mine. Looking at some of the pop numbers, most CC's are anything but rare. Some of the other mints are, especially the O mint marks in the later years.

Below are the GSA hard pack numbers from PCGS. I guess I can't be certain some of these aren't regular slabs with cracked out GSAs. May be missing a couple VAM's in the numbers. Here's the numbers I pulled out of PCGS pop reports:
