Three coins for submission

dsessomdsessom Posts: 2,427 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have had these raw coins in an album for some time. I know they are not rarities, but just for fun, I thought I would post images and let everyone chime in on the grades, and any problems that I might have not seen that would prevent a straight grade. I bought them all at a local coin shop, if memory serves. Anyway, I am leaning toward submitting them to our host for grading. What do you all think?

Nice coins. The 1866 has some variety possibilities. RPD?
    Classic coins indeed.
    Good Luck!

    Any opinions on grades? My best guess would be;

    1866 w/rays - AU50
1867 no rays - MS62 (or AU58) This one is a tough call.
    1858 flying eagle - VF30

Granted, you have the coins in hand, and I have images through cellophane, but I’m at XF40, AU 55, and VF 20.
I also agree that these look to be nice album coins and would leave them as such, but I’m also the same one wasting $ submitting large cents that wind up grading a half grade lower than comparable coins shown in CoinFacts, or worse, winding up in genny holders. So I’m in no position to judge….

The obverse of the 1866 looks cleaned (though I don’t know if enough to garner a details-grade) and the 1867 looks AU.

    I would leave them alone.

    I'm at

    1866 Shield EF40 shot 45
    1867 Shield AU53 shot 55
    1858 Flyer VF20 shot 25

Granted, this based on images taken through cellophane and I have no way to see some things, but that would be my WAG.

Great looking 7070 coins. Not sure I'd pay the fees to grade.

    1866 - Cleaned
    1867 - maybe cleaned, maybe AU55
    1858 - VF something

Fine album coins, but I cannot see any reason to spend money on grading coins like this.
