I can't help but laugh when I notified this ebay seller

That the coin they have listed is not what they claim. They are obviously being deceptive.

I was minding my own business... when I tripped and fell and my precious coin fell into a pot of molten gold!

These jerks on Ebay are really full of themselves selling coins with made up descriptions they found on Youtube, Facebook or where ever. I just assume they are trying to crack accounts.

How do you clean gold plating off?
A quick dip in eZest? :D

    The seller is almost entertaining.

Ebay needs a "numismatic cleanup team" to scrub through listings and delete garbage ones like that. There are enough of them out there that it would be a full time job for sure.

Oxidizing acid. It leaves a mess behind. Or electrolysis. It leaves a mess behind.

Virtually no one with inaccurate listings sells those items for anywhere near their high asking prices.

You have to polish it off with a buffing wheel.

Agree. This seller knows exactly what he's doing and is trolling for a sucker. There's too many like him on eBay so caveat emptor.

RARE, all uppercase text, exclamation points, ellipses, asterisks, and emojis in a title tell the story of many bad auction pages by unscrupulous or witless sellers.

They have had several. The sellers complained too much and they were disbanded.

Funny since those are the types of sellers who make eBay look bad and ultimately cost them money.

You wasted too much time with that worthless looser. They are a dime a dozen and not worth the time of day or a pile of dung. Fortunately, there are very many fine and reputable sellers on eBay.

  • Che_GrapesChe_Grapes Posts: 1,851 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am surprised you spent as much time with the seller as you did - you could have a full time job doing that

  • Che_GrapesChe_Grapes Posts: 1,851 ✭✭✭✭✭

And the pay is terrible …

There still are a few volunteers...

Totally get it, I accidentally gold plate things all the time. I am just thankful we were able to gently clean it back to BU. It would have been a shame to ruin such a specimen.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Huge waste of time and energy trying to tell a seller like that anything
