Been looking for a mint 57 Rocky Colavito for quite a while and think I found it except for a very minor dent. Obviously couldn’t see that in the scans; how will it affect grading? I paid about $175 after shipping, which is between the cost of a PSA 7 or 8. Could this still grade an 8 with the dent and minor back edge chipping?
I just won this 1967 Mantle PSA-8.5 from 4 Sharp Corners. I have owned this card previously as a PSA-9 and a PSA-8...and am very happy w/this acquisition. The freshness of the card sold me...very little to no toning. Notice the brightness of the colors and the white borders on the front of the card...
If the front does not scream fresh to you...check out the back. The cartoon and stat boxes are very white...and the green back is also very bright color.
This buy completes my Mantle collection w/14 cards including two (2) multiplayer cards: 1953 Bowman Color Berra, Bauer, Mantle (one of the earliest multiplayer cards in the hobby) and a 1964 AL Bombers Mantle, Maris, Kaline, Cash.
I’ve loved the Olympics since I was a little kid. I’ve been picking up some Olympian cards lately and this is one that just came in. This man was must see TV.
Another AROD that will make its way to PSA soon!
This one is numbered 6/13.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
@Happytrails ......that is my favorite Judge pose on his 1st MLB season RC (non XRC).... really nice low pop. auto you found.... was it PWCC? ~I have quite a few Judges but not this one....love it.
@ScoobyDoo2 ~ yes it is.... thanks much. Topps Chrome Update is always my first choice for RC's generally along with Topps Heritage .... XRC wise I aim for 1st Bowman Chrome's. You have an amazing Judge thread as well... stuff I haven't seen anywhere. This was a big get for me... I'll be done for a while
And it didn't come from eBay that way, it came from the authenticator that way.
Who's paying the authenticator? I would guess eBay?
This has to do with mitigation of the Money Back Guarantee?
Eventually it's going to be an optional service.
PSA was the company chosen to authenticate graded cards for ebay. Some other company was doing raw cards. I haven't looked into it in almost a year. I didn't like having my cards go to a 3rd party
Only 1 graded! Checked the top 4 graders and this one was it. (Sorry PSA)
Ok, I paid too much, but it had my favorite penguin growing up, Ron Cey, and it has a lot of meaning and back story, so I had to have it for the PC.
Card is actually for Japanese HOFer Tsuneo Horiuchi and teammate of legendary Sadaharu Oh of the Yomiuri Giants,.
The Dodgers would invite the "Tokyo Giants" to train in Vero Beach, FL during Spring Training back in the 60's and 70's, and the card's pic was taken during the Giants' 1975 visit to Dodgertown. It would change how Japanese players played the game, paving the way to making the Majors.
Anyway, I think it got a 6 grade because of centering only, otherwise it would easily be an 8, maybe even 9.
Congrats on the other beauties posted, particularly the centered PSA 7 '65 Mantle, the PSA 9 '58 Banks and PSA 7.5 Campy rookie bought raw. Must have been a thrill when it came back from PSA.
Here's my 2nd OJ, very pleased with the contrast in this image of "Big Sam."
Picked up a pair of 68 Rookies at auction this weekend. Missed on the same exact Bench last year after the National while traveling back home, and was not going to miss on it this time around.
Those who know this issue are aware of the centering challenges. I had an 8 years ago and probably paid the same money. Did not have this centering! Tons of gloss and obvious corner.

Really nice Bench, Keith!
There's a really nice article with interview in Beckett Vintage Collector on Bench. I learned a lot. I knew he had a great career.
But - wow - 17 yrs: 2 WS titles, 2 MVPs, 1 WS MVP, 10 gold gloves, 14 AS games, ROY '68, 389 HRs, 2000 hits!!!!

I don't buy cards much so I wasn't aware that cards went to eBay before shipping to me.
So, this is the way it came - well packed and with a nice holder...
Where's the dough coming for this?
I throw the holders right in the trash. They take up too much space. And it didn't come from eBay that way, it came from the authenticator that way.
Who's paying the authenticator? I would guess eBay?

Added a Thurman Munson card.

Next to all these great cards, I'm a bit hesitant in posting.
Every year I do Topps Heritage, Chrome and Bowman along with Stadium Club.
Just finished the 2022 TSC set - what I like about this set is the great photography.
