The Great Forum Migration of 22-Years Ago (February 23, 2001)...Who Was There & Let's See Coins

I visited my public "wall" just moments ago and noticed not only the new way PCGS has chosen to display our "Likes", "LOL", points and other information, but also noted that our "Joined Date" is quite prominently displayed. Like many of our elder statesmen (ahem...old) forum members, I was here prior to this software being in place and can trace my roots on the PCGS boards to the 1990s and the now long ago defunct version that offered no avatars, made it near impossible to link or post images and where we might have a dozen new posts per day!
So, if you were here and posting on the old, long gone software and can remember the likes of scottieo and his dearly departed 1804 dollar that fell out of his shirt pocket into a freshly poured concrete sidewalk, I would love to see any coins you acquired and might still have from around the February 23, 2001 migration date. Heck, if you weren't here then I would still love to see what you might have through two-plus decades.
The below is a PCGS-graded 1795 Draped Bust dollar I picked up on February 16, 2001 and still have in the same holder.

I'm still a newbie = April 2003
Only been here 15 years Tom, but as I look at old threads, it saddens me that many no longer post or are likely dead. Looking forward to who answers your call!

I've only been here since 2008, which is about the time I started seriously collecting again.
As far as I can tell, this is the very first coin I purchased from a forum member in 2009 (Joel Miller) and I still have it. It's actually one of my favorite coins because of the lilac toning.

I recall what you mentioned here, and concur. Pleasant memories indeed.
Some of our earlier forum friends have passed, a sad fact.
I’m relatively new, but I always love perusing through the archives to see what went on here back in the day. I’ve found some real gem threads, and it’s a fun read when you find a good one. Is the thread about the 1804 dollar in the concrete archived anywhere?

12/03/2001. Had an epiphany when I found this site. So many knowledgeable people willing to share their opinions. Went all in, went to a couple of Baltimore shows, then the Pittsburgh ANA in 2005, then life gets in the way, but this place is always here.
Tom,
I joined two days after you (02/25/2001).
The first coin I featured on the forum was a rainbow-toned MS66 1964 PCGS Kennedy half dollar.
I no longer own that coin and have never seen it since owning it.

I joined the forums in August, 2004 after lurking for a while.
When I got back into the hobby as an adult in 1998 and started playing in the area of 1950-1970 Cameos I remember purchasing an OGP 1963 proof set in 1999 for $10.00 that contained this half dollar (which graded PF67CAM):
3-4 years ago I purchased another OGP 1963 proof set for about $25.00 that contained this half dollar (which graded PF67DCAM):
They both look DCAM to me; and I enjoyed cherry picking them both.
Started lurking in 06 and joined in april 07. Bought my favorite Buffalo(besides the ones from CHD's terrible fire) in 2010 and have it yet.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
Joined in April 2001, just after the move.
I was unaware on the the change and was trying to get into the old one as I recall. The old one was actually version 2 if I recall... So I finally figured it out on March 4th 2001. I started collecting again in 1997 and bought the PCGS Grading guide also in 1997.
I even joined the collectors club from a coupon in back although it was not called that..
So three moves later here I am.
Joined 9/4/2001. 7 days later the world changed. The first 2 coins I purchased were quarters from the 100 that wonder coin had graded by PCGS for a fundraiser. Still have them in a display cabinet at work. We have lost a lot of great contributors over the years. Way to many because of the ban button.
This thread makes me feel young again.
I was late to the party. Joined here in 2011. I started ATS, b/c my Registry set was over there, which I had begun in 2005. Joined their boards in 2009. This sounds funny, now, but the 4 year delay in joining their chat boards, was due to the fact that they wouldn't allow webmail registration, at the time! LOL I joined PCGS 2 years later as an afterthought. I spend much more time here than ATS, now, but I still visit over there and contribute, when I can.

I came along in Sep 2002, been here a few years now but not an OG. I have had the opportunity to meet/converse with many of the forum members both past and present. The very first coin I bought here on the BST is my 1926-D Lincoln, that transaction happened in Nov of 2002 with forum member birddog, still have the coin.

This picture was taken right about that time. I still have everything pictured. The Walking Lib' was the most recent addition, almost to the day I joined. The Hallmark graded Stanton I found in 1992, the Bay Bridge in 1994, and both the 1829 CBH and the 1854 SLH were acquired in 1999. I sent the CBH for grading.

I joined on 9/23/01. I don't know where negatives of my coin photos from then are, but I do know I had this coin at the time. 1887/6-O cherrypicked raw, now PCGS 63 CAC.

I joined here in June of 2003 I had all my coins stolen even my 1921 Morgan which I had encapsulated just because it was from my mom and dad. I believe it graded an xf not real good but it was what got me into the coins.
What, sooooo...that would make you about 30-years old now, right?

The older version of the boards from the 1990s until this one was not actively archived. However, if you check out the Internet Archive Wayback Machine you may be able to pull up individual pages from that version. At the time the version had an all white background and essentially no graphics.
The first iteration of these boards had limited functionality, as well, and my avatar was one of the first offered on the site. If I recall correctly, PCGS offered about two dozen avatars you could choose from and they obviously came as a group purchase with the software. I was the only one to choose the green demon.

I still have that book and think the first edition is one of the best coin books ever written. However, I never used my coupon in the back. I wonder if it's still good?

After lurking for a while I joined in September 2004. Bought this coin from the BST a few months later. I added a green sticker and it’s one of my favorites.
I was lurking for a little while before joining in April 2006... so I guess I'm still a youngin...
In February 2001 my daughter had just been born and I was still a couple of years away from getting back into the hobby.

I was on the old forum (late nineties), prior to the great migration. In fact, it was @TomB that advised me that the new forum was created and I would have to rejoin - which I promptly did on 24 February 2001. The new forum had much more functionality and that is when coin pictures began. Great forum indeed, and I have learned a lot here and had a lot of fun as well. Cheers, RickO
Feb. 24, 2001 for me.
Not a coin, but one of my favs nonetheless.

Joined Dec 14, 2004, mostly lurked for a decade and spent my time on the NGC boards back when they were more active, then migrated to here. Don't have much left from those days to show, as I was mostly collecting 'learning' coins then. So I will substitute this recent pickup that hopefully shows I learned how to collect from those early years of 'learning'.
I first joined the forum in 2004 as MrSpud but I ended up having to rejoin again as Mr_Spud in 2020 after taking a few years off because I couldn’t recover my account for some reason. The pictures disappeared from my first post about a blank planchet I found. Here’s the 3 posts I made the first day I joined in 2004

April 2003 for me, I migrated over from r.c.c. at the suggestion of k6az. He submitted some nickels for me and my first post was sharing those results.

This is my first gold dollar bought in 1992 Started life as a PCGS OGH MS62. A few years later upgraded to P63. And now JA thinks it deserves a gold sticker.
This is my fav purchase from the BST, about 8 years ago.

Missed that migration, joined on 9/25/2001 but didn't post until June 2002! Before that, I was off and on in the rec.collecting.coins usenet group.

I don't comment a lot but sure have enjoyed the show.
I could not say with any accuracy what the first coin I posted here was.
I sure is was some average MS 62 or 63 Peace Dollar that is long gone.

I joined up November of '01, so I missed the migration. I did lose a number of posts on my count when this board was updated.
June 2002- Thanks to Collectors Universe//PCGS for making this possible. This remains a work in progress and hopefully the best is yet to come.

Apr 17, 2001 so I don't remember the old old boards, Here's the first PCGS graded coin I purchased, which was within a year of joining (I still have it):

I have been here before the 2001
In 2001 this is the new forum.
Wow . . .Sept. 26, 2003. I guess I am a newb.
I thought I was around a while . . . but in reality I probably rank right with the posters showing pix of parking lot change.
Looking forward to many more years.

July 2, 2001. When I read the topic of the "Great Migration," I thought it was going to refer to the creation of the OFR.
I was not around for scottieo's 1804 dollar and heard only bits of the full story. So, @TomB can you please tell it? Also, wasn't there someone who asked for donations for dentures or was that another chat board?
June 30, 2007, after lurking for a while.
First BST purchase was shortly afterwards, from PonyExpress (Glenn). He shipped the coin the same day I mailed my check, which floored me. It’s still in my 7070.
