The fact that the “modern” solider isn’t even firing a gun that looks anything like an M4 carbine is just a testament to poor design work. I can’t imagine how many hands this had to go through and nobody with any decision making power said anything about the weapon being completely inaccurate.
Far too expensive and a pass. I have the Navy and Marine 2.5 ounce coins and that is it. This coin will sell out, so evidently in the market it is not overpriced.

I ordered one. I'm not big into metals but an Army vet and like the obverse design. I'm a little disappointed Vietnam is not referenced on the reverse but I guess you can't have everything.
Thank you for your service. I believe one of the streamers has "TET COUNTEROFFENSIVE 1968"
My brother in law was in Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive in 68. He says it was Hell.

My brother-in-law was a dog handler/trainer in Vietnam. He also had to walk point. They were out one night and the dog alerted. Saved all their lives because there was a boobie trap ahead. The dog was a Hero, and my brother-in-law wrote a book about his dog.

I understand the appeal of these but kinda like last year’s colorized Purple Heart 1 oz $95. I went this route. 5 oz Apmex bar $111. Free shipping
Now today’s price on 5 oz bars raises the question, once again. Is 2.5 oz for $175 , even With the low mintage, just too much money for what your getting. Just wondering.
The pictured above 5 oz bars are purchased for their bullion value in hopes that spot will increase. No numismatic value associated with them. On the other hand. US Mint issued Medals are collected for their craftsmanship, theme and numismatic value.
Edited to add: You need to ask the same questions to those of us that collect 1 oz silver NCLT coins for $75+, and I'll suspect a similar answer along with a potential speculative price appreciation.
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
Those last 500+ medals could take a while to sell. Seems like most of the buying is over. Close to10k sold is quite an accomplishment for a 2.5 oz silver medal.....Go Army!
Well here’s an offer for an advance release. I enjoy watching when I have a little spare time. I’ve got a couple great deals from the boys. It seems that the advance release are very expensive.
I’m not knocking on the Coin Vault nor am I advocating for them.

Wow, I got an e-mail from the Mint that my Army medal is out for delivery. (I already knew because I use Informed Delivery.)
When did the Mint start doing this?
Got mine today. Very nice coin with a matte finish. I haven't been able to get a good representation photography of it. I'm not sure if that has to do with the finish, lighting, phone or a combination of all three.

While I think there may be those buying to flip I don't think anyone is buying them to stack. While they will always have their precious metal value most of the value is collector or sentiment for those that served.

Fantastic idea. Problem is that they are not technically sold out and right now their unavailable. And history tends to show a slight release once they are reconciled, so as to who gets the last one, uncertain.
The issues like the first type 2ase in a holder with an example of the type one. Not a guarantee of the first or last sold. Interesting to see what pcgs sez but you know you have a good story to go along with a nice medal. Just a thought, which can be questionable coming from me😂

I see it as poorly designed myself and I also feel it’s overpriced.

If someone randomly posted a US Mint link to the medal on some Army Reddit boards...they'd sell out in a heartbeat...

Mine arrived today. Nice medal. Would be interesting to have seen it in proof finish, though the matte finish does look nice.

I just unboxed my Medal, and I have to say..... it looks stunning.
Next & final 2.5 oz silver US Military medal: US Space Force, scheduled for late this year. As of yet the design has not been finalized,
I'll be in for one to complete this series.
Same here. Two if I can convince a family member to buy one for me.
My goal is to own two of each for all six releases.
Tim
Yes, it does. A great design IMO.
