What is up with this 1880O Morgan

I am returning this Morgan.
For discussion purposes I would like to know what this is. It looks like de-lamination. I'm sure some of you guys have seen it. For future reference I would like to know what it is.

It doesn't look like a de-lamination, it looks more like a milky patch of toning, maybe from an improper rinse after a dip. ;)

It does look milky I agree.
Under magnification it looks like something has peeled off. The surface is not flush. So my guess would be that it's etched from a spot of ezest or something.
    Sound about right?

You have the coin in hand so I need to trust your eye. ;)
The photos make the surface appear flush and yes it could be etched from the dip.
It could also be some type of strike thru if it's not flush.

Since you are returning it you don't want to do anything to it but I would guess another quick dip would remove it.

That looks like a stain or glue residue... Soak in acetone and it will disappear. Cheers, RickO
