Help me grade this 1903 McKinley gold $1

So I purchased this McKinley $1 gold coin housed in a PCI holder. I bought the coin and not the holder and need some help grading it... It's very lustrous and super small and I'm having a hard time coming up with a grade...

What would you grade this at?

@Samets ... The pictures are really to dark for an accurate analysis.... It does appear to be in the MS range. Better pictures - more light - will be necessary. Cheers, RickO

The piece has some marks and most definitely not Mint State.

I am concerned that it was mounted at one time. The edges have the look that it has been removed from some sort of a ring that held it.

These coins were sold at the fair fair mounted in spoons and other sorts of holders. I am guessing this may have been removed from one. If the reeding is mess up on the edge, that is a strong clue.

Here is one that is in a PCGS MS-64 holder. It has a P-L like surface, which is the reason I bought it.

That sure is a real nice, obscure coin.

    Don't see many floating around.

Can we see the PCI slab label? I'm curious to see how they graded it.

Is this one of the four that PCGS states is PL in their population report?

No, @DisneyFan, it only has that look.

I think I know where you bought this coin. It was PCI 63 right? I just wonder if the obverse scratch will merit a details grade.

Good question. Lots of coins have scratches, what pushes them over the line so they are not straight graded?

Bowers in his Commemorative book states many commemorative gold coins coins are prooflike; yet very few have been labelled by the grading services.
