Kicked off my Morgan Collection today - plus a few extras

Went to my LCS. Figured monday would be a slow day and it was. Spent about an hour and a half talking, looking at all sorts of goodies. Finally settled on a couple morgans, we checked the authenticity on the pcgs site, so i could see how thats done.
Found a couple other coins that i liked, figured i would get them as well. More stuff to look at in hand at home.
It was a great experience, we discussed fakes and he showed me a few examples he has removed from circulation. He explained how to grade, the differences between common dates, key dates etc. Alot of info was shared.
Onto some pics, there just quick ones with phone.

Congrats on embarking on your new journey! That's a pretty good start if I do say so myself, and it appears as though you're listening to the advice being given to you. Sometimes that's the best part of a coin transaction is not the actual purchase, but the experience spending some time in the store and conversating with the dealer, letting them show you some coins, and listening to what they're telling you. LCS dealers deal with a lot of tire kickers and pikers looking to sell grandads coins for top dollar, but if they see an aspiring collector with willingness to learn, sometimes they'll take more time to help educate and guide you toward making smart purchases, and choosing the best examples for your collection.

And away we go!
You mentioned the counterfeit slabs. The two you bought have the pcgs new nfc chip (identified by the black symbol on the back label and the similar symbol on the front side in the lower left on the plastic). You can take your phone (needs to have the NFT / contactless payments turned on and an internet connection - WiFi or mobile data) and hold it near the slab (the NFC in is the label) and it will identify the slab and bring up the pcgs data for it.
Note: occasionally somebody finds one that is a good slab but the NFC does not work on it. Seems that pcgs when contacted can often get it turned on.
There are also some pcgs Apps and some might be useful.

It was a fun visit. Ill have to check out the nfc/nft security chip and how that works.
Thanks.

A couple of nice examples to start your collection, congrats!
Nice coins, congrats !!
Good start.... and a good idea to build a relationship with a knowledgeable dealer. You can learn a lot that way. Also I recommend coin shows if you can get to them. Do not overlook reference books on coins that interest you. Good luck, Cheers, RickO
Nery nice couple of Morgan dollars, congrats and enjoy the journey.
My Collection of Old Holders

It's a disease that there is no cure for.
