Choosing coins for submission

FrazFraz Posts: 2,118 ✭✭✭✭✭

My dear Droogs,

I cannot do it. I don’t know my coins well enough; still sorting, still learning.
I do not have a good eye for this.

I have vouchers from my memberships, here and ATC, that expire in the Spring. I thought that it would be easier to find worthy coins. It’s not easy.
Graded coins are not part my future. I prefer that someone use the vouchers more effectively than I.
Coins, merely, are fun for me. I’ve always been a brokedick, and that ain’t changing.

I have almost anything modern (clad era) to search, from having bought local hoards and collections. I am cursed with hoards.
I’ve picked up a lot of proof coins from collections; I have no interest in grading them, nor the bullion.

My choices: 1919 P,S, AND D WLHs as lowballs,
I two AU West Point quarters from bank rolls.

I asked some of my friendlies (and my detractors) in private messages, thank you for the time that you took to respond.
I would be satisfied if I received one tenth of the value in unsearched rolls if they can transfer.

I would give some to a deserving, poor collector who has good candidate coins.

Shout out suggestions should you care.
If you have an idea how you could use them, write it in a PM.

As always, thanks for the stuff to read, and your encouragements—Craig.

Do you consider these to be your most valuable coins? Do you have any pre 1900 coins you wish you knew the grade?

No, I just like the SLHs, one was a gift in childhood.
No pre-1900s other than orphan Indians.

    Edit: punct.

Don't waste money slabbing coins that don't belong in slabs. Just keep them raw.

    All glory is fleeting.

All three WLHs are good choices. At the very least, I'd send in the nicest 1919 WLH just to confirm your idea of the grade.

They are no better than G8 to 10.

I want the vouchers to be used intelligently. I lack that skill.

As long as you have them, don't waste them. Use them to confirm your grading skills.

Get the WLH's slabbed... Post your guess on the grades here first, then post what you actually get.... education tuition. You can also post pictures and have a GTG to see how we think they will grade. It is all fun and part of the hobby. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

I am happy to look at the pics of your W quarters if you care to post them or you can PM me pics.

Also, getting a coin slabbed is a personal choice. Specifically, it is not always about if a coin will increase in value if slabbed.

I have gotten some of my coins slabbed to preserve them for myself and for future generations.

Examples are a coin that you may have inherited from a family member or one that holds sentimental value such as the first coin you ever bought raw or found CRH like a W quarter.

Don't give your vouchers away. Not even sure PCGS will allow it to be transferred to another account.

Definitely don't let them expire. Make your best decision and go for it. It's fun!😎

    For what it's worth:

I always have someone I know screen coins before submission. He's one of the smartest people in the room, and knows what the TPGs and CAC look for. I'd like to think I have a good idea re what I collect, but he's in the business and probably sees more coins that about anyone else in the business.

    "Sou Mangueira......."

Are your vouchers for 4 coins or 8?
If you do not submit much and do not like doing so, why did you pay to join for submissions?
