Anybody here use Coinoscope?

I was going to try it out but partway through installation, I was asked for my credit card info (for a free app) and there didn't appear to be a way to proceed without providing it. What's up with that?

Looked it up and saw one on Google Play. I have had a similar situation on a free app. Asked for CC and said I won't be charged unless I use it. Passed also. Not sure but might just be a way to get someone into the system and make it easier for them to get something on an impulse buy. ???

I have it on my iPad. I’ve used it a couple of times to help identify medals and tokens. It’s ok, but no big deal. You can do similar using google image searches

After having my cc account hacked somehow last year (didn't lose any money, but it was a supreme hassle to update to a new card), I'm not too keen on giving out my card info. Especially to a company that is offering a "free" product/service.

Quite a few "free" apps are requiring that now and most say, "won't be used unless...." I stay away. Good move MG.

I understad and was not promoting it and noted I passed also. But I was attempting to answer your OP question of What's up with that? This was my best guess at it.

I've had the app for a few years, no credit card asked for. It can be helpful with foreign coins.

@MasonG ... I agree... I have run into that issue a few times... As soon as I see a CC is required, for something I am not supposed to pay for, I just shut it down. Nothing I cannot live without... and usually a viable alternative available. No reason to give a CC if not purchasing something. Cheers, RickO
