But then again the Eagles quit in the second half.

What took place on that "holding penalty" is the kind of crap we bitch about all season every season, a typicl judgement call by the Zebras' That sort of thing happens on absolutely every play with the DB's and WR's, the hand fighting and the arm on the receivers back. Nothing held and no movement impeded but it influences the outcome of the game. 99 out of 100 times they don't call that, just ridiculous.

I don't like it. It is what it is. The Eagles fans are no doubt fixated on that, but their defense disappeared in the 2nd half. This game was won at halftime. The Chiefs made the adjustments, and they obviously gave Mahomes whatever he needed so as to not feel any pain.

This happens frequently and is not called. The thing is that there is always this or offensive holding going on, almost always. The refs can take control when they want to.
initially i felt the same way you did.
then i saw the replay from a different angle. it was more than a grab......he pulled his jersey. a zebra sees you doing that and there will no doubt be laundry flying thru the air.
sucks that the most important game of the year has to come down to that, but it was the proper call imo.
Pretty early in the 3rd quarter I could feel the game slipping away from the Eagles. The Eagles have no one to blame but themselves, especially their defense. Whether or not that penalty is called, the Chiefs are going to score a FG at minimum. But I just wanted to see the Eagles try to answer. It was a great game. If that penalty isn't called, and the Chiefs score, and the Eagles get their shot at the end, it would feel better. Imo.

I guess. But the refs could have swallowed their whistles there. It didn't feel right within the flow of how the game had been called thus far. The fortunate this is that the Eagles defense is truly to blame. If the Eagles had been playing lights out, I'm sure it would be a different story. I perused some Eagles fans discussions immediately afterwards. They were extremely salty, but there was a lot of common sense peppered in. They know that their defense let them down.
Well, the FG woulda happened anyway, just would have been time left for Philly to try to do something. But, why did that Philly player grab the KC WR with his left hand at a time like that? Stupid move led to tough call by the ref. Why put yourself in that position to force the refs to do something? Refs are damned if they do, damned if they don't in such a situation, so no matter what, one side is going to cry foul.
Thanks to all for participating will get some regular season games next year mostly Monday and Thursday easier that way only 1 game per day. And do the playoffs as well.
Thanks to PM. At the half I thought my small wager was toast. And while handing out kudos, thanks go to Scottie over at the Waste Mgt. tilt. Scored a small win there as well. He scored back to back wins there today. Now on to the Masters in April for a repeat there. Congrats to all the punters who scored with the Chiefs.

I believe in the first quarter the refs. let one slide against Phil. where the 2 announcers and retired referee Mike Perier said they should of called one on the Philly defender. After that non call I was waiting for the "make up" call. And it occurred here late in the game.
Successful transactions:Tookybandit. "Everyone is equal, some are more equal than others".
In the big picture, Kansas City most probably would have won absent that penalty call, the FG would have been longer and there would have been more time left on the clock. The sticking point for me is what it's been for decades now, the Officials can control a game based on how the rules are written and interpreted. It isn't what penalties are called, it's when they choose to call them. If that type of play between a defender and receiver is going on the entire game, and if certainly is, why decide it needs to be called on that play??
It's just a bad look for the NFL.
There were about 10 penalties all game, most of them easily seen things like Off-Sides or Motion penalties with one pretty blatant PI against Philly that I remember. Then, at one of the most crucial points of the game, out comes the flag for something that's a pretty normal part of every pass play.
It was a good game but I just hate the music so turned the sound off during halftime.
Mahomes deserved that win !
Now we get on to Nascar at Daytona and spring training games the following week.
You would think the NFL would pay more attention to the condition of the playing field for the biggest game of the year. Players were slipping on the turf on almost every play. One of the Eagles said it was the worst field he ever played on.
KC played there the first game of the year and I remember they complained about it then, so nothing was done. Apparently a breed of grass that is extremely slippery, great idea putting it on a football field🙄
Also Terry Bradshaw catching a lot of heat for telling Andy Reid to ‘waddle’ over to the mic. Then telling him to go get a cheeseburger.

"Waddle" is rude. But I thought the cheeseburger comment was in reference to what Reid himself said he was going to do immediately after the last Chiefs win.

Good Game
At one point one of the announcers tried to blame the field condition and slipping on areas that had been "painted" with the logos, but it was happening everywhere.
Thinking about the game this morning it was sort of strange to watch. The talk was that Philly had the best/most talented team in the NFL but it was clear who played better and who coached better --- KC and it wasn't really close. I remember thinking at halftime that it felt weird for the Eagles to only be up by 10 points when they dominated time-of-possession and other stats were so one sided. The game plan of keeping Mahomes and company off the field was a good one and seemed to be working.
What hurt the Eagles in that first half was the fumble recovery for a TD. Absent that it's 24-7 or worse.
Andy Reid has strengths as a Head Coach and his best may be the mid-game adjustments. Also, I don't know how the Chiefs flipped things on the Eagles, but THEY were the ones who pressured the QB most and were better at running the ball when they needed to. Is everyone else amazed at the energy level Pacheco has on every play?? The guy is a dynamo and seems pretty tough, too. When he got "clocked" in the third quarter and went out I thought he was done, man-o-man I heard the bell ringin' in my house!!! A couple plays later and he's back in the game and still running hard. Call me crazy, but I could see Isiah Pacheco being considered as the MVP after his performance. The Chiefs have struck gold with that guy.
The game was very competitive and entertaining (before the game I had a thought pop up in my head that it would be a major let down if the Superbowl saw a repeat of the college football championship played last month).
There were many great plays made during the game. Two that I liked a lot were the K.C. touchdowns in the second half where the Chiefs were near the Philly goal line. On the first play K.C. scored on a TD pass where the receiver faked the defender so bad that when he caught the ball on the right side of the field there was no defender covering him and he waltzed into the end zone. The next K.C series saw a repeat of the same play, except this time the receiver caught the ball on the left side of the field. No defender was covering him and he again scored.
When I saw the first play work so well and saw K.C. near the goal line a second time I said to a friend of mine "K.C. should run the same play again".
And they did.
At that point I thought that the Philly defense (and defensive coaches) was/were overmatched and not capable of stopping K.C's offense.

“It was a holding. I tugged his jersey. I was hoping they would let it slide."
