Help with an 1887 Indian head cent variety penny

Here is an 1887 Indian head penny that has a raised "dot" to the left of the Indians nose. In fact there are supposed to be a pair
of little dots in the picture. I am aware of the so-called 1875 dot cent where a raised dot was place on the "n" in cents to catch a thief at the mint. Anyone ever heard of the dot or dots on this 1887 cent and if so of what significance is it, if any?

I’m certain it’s a Rockwell hardness test!!!😂
Not sure what the dot is... can you magnify the picture? Cheers, RickO
