Ultimate Parking Lot Find

From time to time I've found a penny on the ground. Occasionally a dime. Last Spring when gas was $5.00, two crumbled $1.00 bills next to the gas pump. But, my wife tops them all. She spotted what looked like a part from an earring lying on the ground in the space next to our car. I said don't bother, it's worthless. She thought it might be gold. Sure enough, one penny weight, 14k gold. Ching, ching - $40.00 from the local coin shop! And the owner was wearing a larger version pn the chain around his neck.

That's awesome!
At one point someone left $35 in the return cash slot at the grocery store. Biggest find I ever came across.
Coin Photographer.
A month or two ago we were at the transfer station and I noticed a scraped up ziplock bag on the ground. It had some odd gold stud earrings and a pair of large squarish hoop earrings, which turned out to be sterling silver but slightly broken.
Did I mention they were TIFFANY sterling silver earrings?
I called Tiffany's repair shop and for $140 or so I can get them fixed and put back into newish condition, as well as into a new Tiffany blue box. Retail on new ones is at least $350-400 or more.
I'll probably get them fixed and give them to my niece as "vintage" Tiffany.
I figure the bag was someone's scrap pile headed for the jewelry or coin store. (I haven't dealt with the small amount of gold yet).
what is the return cash slot at the grocery store? the self-checkout aisles?

Found a crumpled $20 bill on the floor of the produce department in a Safeway once.

My top two are a tie and both at LV casino.
First is the folded up $100 bill on the floor. I thought it was one of those fake ones but not. It was real.
Second was a $100 casino chip on the floor.

Not exactly a parking lot find, but I once found a ~.25 carat diamond earring at a water park. I took it to my LCS, and was pretty excited when the green thingamabob lit up! Another time I found a small (a few grams, I think) 14k gold chain on the ground. @JBK 's post also reminded me of a sterling Tiffany bracelet I found on the ground, but that one might be fake. Jewelry is always fun to find!

My buddy Mark found a $100 black chip as well. We were walking through Binions casino on Fremont St in LV, and he glanced down at the floor as we walked by the 21 tables. The swirled design on the carpet hid the chip perfectly, but he somehow noticed it. Now, when I'm not sitting at a table, I always look around on the floor near the various tables.

I found a 20 once in back of a stack of Sunday papers. That was cool (saw it first)
Found a $100 bill on the street about a month ago. Couldn't believe it.
We walked out of the Petro Mart a few days ago and noticed an attractive woman gassing her car. Others stared too—she had an audience. She hung the spout, walked to the center of the parking lot, picked up a fold of cash in front of us, looked at us like we bothered her and left.
Never gonna learn.
At my local casino they would have tracked you down and made you return it.

The other day my 2 year daughter and I went to Aldi. Put in a quarter to get a cart. On the way out I was picking her up and the two bags we had, a woman walked up to get a cart and just gave me a quarter and took my cart. When I got in the car and was situated turns out it was a Susan b Anthony dollar

My uncle bought a house in south Jersey to renovate and flip, at the time I was working for him. It was a large rancher with a basement. When we went to take measurements, I found what appeared to be a gold bracelet laying on the floor in the basement, I figured it was just a plated piece of junk but to my surprise, it tested at 14k and I sold it to a jeweler for 700 bucks

I found a hundo on the floor at the OTB at Arlington Park once. I spotted it at about the same time as another "patron", I got to it first. The side eye was something to behold.
I once found 84 bucks laying on the ground by a buss stop on Harlem ave just south of Foster. I was catching the buss home from a lady friends house back in 1987. This was in Chicago for those who don't know. Pretty good haul back in the day.
In a coin show at the old Statler-Hilton in Los Angeles, 1960s, I found a foreign gold coin on the floor. About half eagle size. I asked the nearby dealers if they had lost one. None had.
Funny for me to see this because I’ve been annoyed a good part of the day today after realizing I apparently dropped a 5 dollar bill from my coat pocket while in the grocery store this morning - … so I guess the bright side is someone else has a “I found a 5 dollar bill” story to tell today.
One of my better finds from our town dump (transfer station). I was getting rid of some old wood if I remember correctly and saw an old card board box setting on the side of that section of the dump. I walked over and looked inside and saw a bunch of silverware. First one I looked at read Gorham sterling. It dates from 1870 by the markings. They were all pretty much from the same set. That was a wacky find.

You know anything that gets lost on the casino floor technically belongs to the casino.
Well if you ask a casino that's the case.
I was walking by a bank of slot machines and a bill was floating through the air.
I just happened to be in the right place and scouped it out of the air.
Once found about 150, 10 pt. diamonds in a wax folder walking through a vacant hallway.
Also I won my Fantasy Football League Super Bowl and just received the coolest ring.
Bling bling is a mild statement.
Wow! The folder was walking?! 🤔
Really ?
Wow, so I could say I once returned a walker?
The most I have found was six twenty dollar bills folded inside half a fake leather ID holder. This was on a highway, I was hitch hiking years ago when I was in the Navy. That was a bunch of money back then. Out in the middle of nowhere on a highway between Newport, RI and Maine. Had a great weekend. Cheers, RickO
Is that when you started collecting coins with all that extra money?
@DisneyFan ... No, actually about ten years before that, when I had a paper route. Cheers, RickO
Back in 2002 I was in the mall just before Christmas when malls were packed and it was madness. I kept seeing something getting kicked around as I was cutting thru Macy's. I bent down and picked it up luckily without getting knocked over and found rolled money that obviously fell out of someone's coat pocket. Not one person said that's mine or even bothered to ask what I was picking up. I made my way to the center of the mall sat on a bench and looked at what I had. $80. I felt so sick for the person who lost it. They obviously were in a rush and careless.
