Don't remember recycled cans for me but I do recall collecting 'pop' bottles and returning for the recycling fee. Seems like it was 2c or 3c and then went up to 5c and 10c.... Then there were some that had a few states initials on them.

Ah, wooden nickels. I had/have a bunch of these but not sure if they are in a ziplock or were trashed. They were mostly ads for companies or shows or similar. I kept a few in the 3 ring binder pages of stuff. The one in the center appears to have an error. I wonder if one can still redeem that Lone Star.

@OAKSTAR I remember those but dimes I think they were. Interesting the $10.25 bottom center. If a price, then that kind of dates it back some years.

Got this at a recent show. It is a thin channel section and threaded and can open slightly to insert a dollar.

At first I put a pocket piece in it. But then decided that was not getting much use. So then put one of my 'iffy' toned dollars in it (okay more than 'iffy'). Put a string through it and now hanging on one of the shelves (full of stuff).

Well sort of, I had a few of the hobos, and I purchased a ring blank off Amazon and used epoxy to join them together.

Just came across this from the father of a girl who I went to school with since elementary school. He is moving and is getting rid of most everything. In total I gave him around $540 for the coins and medals he had. All of this stuff had not seen the light of day since the early 1970's. There are 5 Mercs and 5 Roosevelts in here dated between 1941 and 1949. Pretty cool little piece of nostalgia IMO.

I am not sure what these are but believe they are fantasy tokens(?).

There are several listings for sale (or sold) for these or similar type pieces to be found and stating something like 'original...'. They are not expensive at least.

However, I found a couple of 'articles' stating that the "L.A. Stamp" type tokens were fantasy tokens (perhaps a re-do). Apparently L. A. Rubber Stamp company also made original tokens for some. Appears they started in the late 1880's into the 1950's/60's or so (didn't nail that down). So not sure when these might have been produced/made.

About the size of a half dollar and medal turn.

Now I kind of think I should have got two or more as I think it is kind of neat.

That's how I got started recycling when I was five years old. My friend and I would find pop bottles and then turn them in at a small convenience store for 2 cents apiece to buy candy. That was a sensible era - no pull tab cans, plastic bags, or plastic bottles. Now we trash the environment for customer convenience.

Almost 65 years later, I've become obsessed with recycling, including dumpster diving for cans when I'm not grabbing them along roadways on my recumbent bike. This was a large haul after a long ride.

I got this one because I think it is kind of neat.
Not sure what it is or supposed to be. Kind of spoon-like but then not. Maybe just some miscellaneous working.
I think it is older but I really don't know. Perhaps it was made last year.
I will think of it as older because - 'Oh that's the way uh-huh uh-huh I like it uh-huh uh-huh'.
It is going onto the shelf of stuff. Not sure how as it is a little unstable just resting. Maybe it will be hung.

I have the reverse of your plate. I think I paid 3 bucks for it. If you look close you can see a staple scratch. 😄

Not a coin but often used in numismatics. I have had this for a long time. Don't recall when I got it but was from a grandparent when I was 'young'. I have seen many interesting magnifiers at shows over the years.
