Unusual PCGS Label Question

Does anyone have any insight or information on this "First Strike" label? The design seems to have some sort of doily type impression I have not seen.

Cert # checks. Still looks odd.
It's one of the "Retro" holders that PCGS did in 2017. You could choose to have your coin in a "doily," "ogh" or "white label" (and of course the regular modern holder.) I don't know too much other than that.

Hmmmm...
So it seems as if someone held this Silver Eagle sealed in its original government issued packaging before submitting it in 2017 for the "First Strike" designation? Would this be correct?
That or they paid for a reholder in 2017 for a coin that was originally graded in 2014. I think the 29XXXXXX cert number lines up roughly with 2017.

I don't know what time window these were offered, but as @dunkleosteus430 has written, these were offered in a variety of retro-vintage slab types for a while at PCGS and you could choose the retro-vintage label and have coins certified. The most common one I have seen is the classic retro-vintage OGH and these pop-up on ebay with some frequency.

Ahhh..
That makes sense. Thanks!
While PCGS did do the 4 special retro labels in 2017, this looks like the retro doily label from late 2013.
Here is a thread from 2013

And one from 2017

Thanks! Interesting reading!
Reference the 2006 ASE PR70DCAM pictured above... What is that indentation on the rear of the right leg? I do not see it on other ASE's. Cheers, RickO

Did they also use those after 2013? The coin in the OP is from 2014. I agree with you that that holder looks more similar though.

Yes it started in 2013 and lasted into 2014 (not sure if it stopped in 2014 or continued though).
