Completed my Late Date Large Cent Set with this nice AU55 1857.

I could not pass up this nice 1857. I was the only bidder at $305. This is $70 less than it brought at the Heritage 2011 February Long Beach Sale. It will do nicely for my Large Date 1857. I have my eye on a very special 1857 Small Date that hopefully will still be around for my birthday in February. So a well bought Christmas present to myself indeed.

I have been buying large cents for a date set off and on for about four years. I am still missing some of the dates in the 1840s for the late date set. I have slipped back and started to buy some AU graded pieces. Earlier I was buying Brown Uncs. Although all of the dates are listed as common, some are more common than others, at least in high grade. There seems to be lots of 1848 large cents.
Congrats... I am not sure collectors appreciate what an accomplishment this truly is. Well played.

Congrats!
My late dates with major varieties is done ( mostly raw), but still need to upgrade my ‘44 and ‘50. My knob on ear is low grade, but I’m ok with that.
Congratulations 👌
Congrats! Do you have a link to your set? I would love to check it out! I
copper. Of all US coinage, early copper is my favorite!!! Nice work!!!!
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
@NeophyteNumismatist Here's a link to my album. Excuse the non TruView pictures....my cell phone picture taking skills are not the best. The 1857 will fill the last hole once she arrives.
