Did you see these online or in hand? If in hand, do they actually have NFC circuitry in them?

Even if they have NFC in them, it won't communicate with the pcgs NFC system. Here is some NFC information from pcgs.

Mark Robinton, Vice President of IoT Services, Identification Technologies with HID Global, explains, “The NFC chip contains a uniform resource locator (URL) that generates a unique, cryptographic one-time password (OTP) that changes every time the chip is tapped. This password is validated by the HID Trusted Tag® Cloud Authentication service to prove that it is the exact same tag that was issued with the slab.”

To me it is interesting to see how these fake slabs change. Sometimes it will get better (more deceptive) in one area. At the same time it will get worse (less deceptive) in another area. If someone ever spent the time to put together the best of the best it appears it would be a fairly good counterfeit slab for some.

Of course, but if you hold a genuine PCGS slab up to the light, you see the NFC circuitry. What I'm wondering is simply if the counterfeiters are trying to at least make it look like there's a chip inside. If they were more resourceful, they'd make one that worked and went to a spoof site that said it was real. That wouldn't work from within the PCGS app, though.

Ah, okay. Right now these are so far off that one doesn't need to look that close. However, if they put the best of the best together, then that fake NFC would also be an improvement. Of course they could just do the ones that are not NFC and get around that problem.

My understanding is that RFID didn't come with pre-Gen 6 slabs.
These slabs all seem to be missing the PCGS logo embossed on the shell.
Counterfeits is another reason I tend to only buy coins with TrueViews, but the primary reason is just that I like TrueViews.
Unfortunately there are MANY genuine PCGS coins without Trueviews- do you avoid them all? I stll maintain coin attribution is the 1st line of defense~
And here we go again/ still- 3rd cert number for these...
No Trueview

I purchased one of the '81-cc's for that reason- no circuitry YET...
Getting nasty out there. Not so much for experienced collectors, but a major danger for the newer collectors. Thanks for the alerts. Cheers, RickO
I think I may have one or two but basically yes. TrueView is my first line of defense.
