Absolutely 100% a large date that is misattributed.
You Suck! Awarded 6/2008- 1901-O Micro O Morgan, 8/2008- 1878 VAM-123 Morgan, 9/2022 1888-O VAM-1B3 H8 Morgan | Senior Regional Representative- ANACS Coin Grading. Posted opinions on coins are my own, and are not an official ANACS opinion.
Definitely misattributed. Even if it had been a small date, frankly I'm wondering why they waste fees sending a basket case coin in. I'm sure a LCS could have told them for free.
Same reason we see like stuff posted here and people are all over it. But....I imagine people are building XF sets in holders.
Years ago I visited a localL B/M, the guy had a stack of 70-S cents all labeled as small dates. After looking them over I informed the guy they were all large dates. He just laughed and put them back in his glass case, "they all look small to me!" he said. I frequented that place less and less. He also did coin shows but I would just walk right on pass his table. I have no time or money for these types.

there is a simple explanation as to why it doesn't look like it to you and that is:
because, it is not.
Is this really the best way to determine? If so, then a little crazy to me at least.
PS - you can tell I don't know these at all.

Liberty looks too strong.
the 9s are diff as well but i love when ppl dig for nuance and secondary pup!
Could be from a proof strike in circulation.
Photos requested from out of the bubble .
As mentioned above, I always look at the shape of the loop of the 9 as there is a distinctive difference between the two varieties.

"Maybe" these File photo's can help your presention point. I'd be interested.

The end of the loop in the 9 is flat, so large
Yep... Based on the 9 PUP, it is a large date. Cheers, RickO

RIP Mom- 1932-2012
Not a SD. Misattributed by PCGS.
In that condition I don't think there is really any value to it anyway.
Collector, occasional seller
The difference would be $5. to $10. coin VS on that is face value.

Why would this coin be sent in for grading?
