PSA - T3 Grading Level Question/Clarification
Dear PSA and my fellow collectors,
I was getting ready to submit some vintage 5x7 items (picture pack photos, team issues and premiums) today. When I pulled up the online submission page, the lowest service level available for an item to be placed in a T3 holder is Express and therefore it comes at a price of $150 per item.
Does anyone know why?
I am hoping that maybe because the size isn’t all that popular that it’s just a service they neglected to update prices/service levels with as they reopened and that is why I am pointing this out.
I also fully recognize that the prices have all gone up on every PSA product and every service level so perhaps it’s just a permanent change and no lower tiers are going to be offered.
I’m hoping it’s the former, that Value and Regular tiers might open up for T3’s (and so would another revenue stream for PSA) and that more opportunities are created for collectors to send in some more items.
All the best,

Hi Tim, I do believe that is the correct pricing at this time. Grading of “jumbos” (8x10 and the like) is even more expensive, because they charge the grading fee, then an additional holdering fee.

Dan,
You know I love my oversized stuff!
Appreciate the response. Looking at both is what had me confused…

I believe that Express service you posted above is for T3s only.
If you go to the original photo grading section, it says the grading fee is $50 for items valued at <$1,000, that would go into the T3-sized holder. It looks like there is also an additional $30 per holder charge, making it $80 each.

So, again, the $150 price looks like it is for actual T3s only.
I do have to say though, that PSA really needs to streamline their website. It seems to be very convoluted and difficult to follow.

Steve,
Thanks for weighing in; I clicked the link and saw the list and sizes, so I though I’d cut and paste it and include a visual for each:
Standard - 2 11/16" x 3 13/16"
Tall Boy - 3 1/2" x 5 1/6"
T-3 Holder - 5 3/4" x 8"
Jumbo* – 8.5" x 11", 6.25" x 8.25", 7.5" x 9.5", 8.1" x 10.1"
I have also had Original Photographs slabbed but they require a separate, written form and, as of now, they can not go through the system using the typical online submission form:
Again, thank you for sharing information, Steve! Much appreciated!
Best,
Tim

@AFLfan
Todd,
I don’t need an explanation or anything; it’s more just making sure it’s not an oversight on the part of PSA.
I have plenty of things to send if lower tiers open back up for T3 holders and I can be patient. 😁
Truth be told, I have one there right now on an Express ticket but it wouldn’t have been eligible for a lower tier without lying. 😉
Thank you and Happy Holidays, Mr. Tobias!
