Finest known! :-) Denver Broncos Est. 1960 - Broncos Country

KurisuKurisu Posts: 2,023 ✭✭✭✭✭

A handful of folks here in the forum got one of these from me along the way.
I still have more to give out

At the last Denver Coin Expo I gave a way a couple more of these and I found out that at least one had actually been graded...I was envious  and so went looking for the nicest one I could find that day and returned to the show to submit it to ANACS.

It looks really nice in the holder! The obverse is actually very prooflike with some nice luster. The reverse is also somewhat prooflike but with beautiful luster that reminds me of some wonderful Conder Tokens I got to see and hold recently.

My original thread on where these tokens came from https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1054685/broncos-mile-high-stadium-coins-tokens-anyone-here-document-this-kind-of-stuff#latest
Yeah...it would be nice if the Broncos were doing a little bit better this year lol!

Seriously, nice coin. We have this one that’s in the same vein.

Nice. I have an 11 US coin order that was submitted to ANACS at the show and is still in "processing".

My favorite team (since I was born and raised in Denver).

Many, many fond memories of Mile High Stadium, including attending minor league baseball games there (Denver Bears, AAA team) on July 4th in the 1960's before 60,000+ fans (who enjoyed the baseball games but attended primarily for the post game fireworks show).

Things haven’t changed much. Mile High gone and now baseball fans have Coors Field, where they can still go and not care about the game 😂
For those who aren’t long suffering Rockies fans, they, well, they suck. They develop great players for other teams. As soon as they are ready, off they go. Year after year ever since I watched Eric Young hit the opening home run at Mile High in 95

The Colorado Rockies are a clone of the Oakland As.

I actually submitted 2 coins to ANACS at the Denver Coin Expo the day before submitting this one, those two are also still processing lol.

Total side note, I live very close to ANACS and they offer a pickup service at a local coin shop. "A Coin Shop" in Littleton, acoinshopco.com so I went there to pick this up after grading. A fairly new (a bit over a year) little coinshop I had never been to. One of the owners is a nice knowledgeable fellow named Paul who's working HARD to make the business work. I bought about $50 of gifts for people while I was there...some beautiful state quarters from mint sets and a few silver proof quarters (Tuskegee Airmen).

I actually went to a August game at the old Mile High Stadium back in the early 1970's. It was a preseason against the Vikings and it snowed like hell. Miserable. Don't drink beer in a snowstorm thinking it will warm you up........it won't. When we left for the game it was mid 60's and then the front came through and by kickoff we could hardly see the field. Never been back. I could go in July and it would snow, just my luck.
I switched from being a Broncos fan to a Raiders fan.....yeah, yeah, I know, Hang be by the neck, 'eh? But, the raiders are now my Las Vegas team, so I have to support them no matter.

Nice, but I would quit handing them out this year and wait to see what happens next year in the QB situation - :)

    Hey Bob
Funny story for you. I live in Grand County Colorado. Roughly 7800-9000 elevation. Went camping one Fourth of July at Williams Fork Went to sleep night of the 3rd and got up early next morning 4- inches of snow 😂

I left Castle Rock (30 miles south of denver and 6,300 feet) and when I got home we had 12" to shovel. Colorado is know for their snow in ANY month. Just have to go with it if you live there. I remember that July 4th storm as I was heading North out of Cheyenne to go fishing when the blizzard struck, one mile from my exit. Shut the highway down completely. Had 12" of blowing snow in the first hour. It was funny to see people in flip flops and shorts pushing their cars off I-25. We had had enough and just drove through the median and back to CR.
