have you seen the 79-s that has about 1/3 of the eagle polished away? it is one tough vam and a sight to behold!
there was a nice peace example posted recently as well @JoeyCoins. i think it was a 1926 peace. don't recall the mm.
Have not seen the 1/2 eagle. I have known that the 79s was a good year for polishing. Evidently someone there took their job quite seriously and had no training or oversight.

For the gold people- I really wish that I had an image of my raw 1940-s WLH to share- die polish in spades- must be seen to be appreciated. There has been some threads surrounding San Francisco mint die polish from this era and it really is quite remarkable

no man, not a 1/2 eagle. 1/3 of the eagle on the reverse of the 79-s morgan was polished away. if i could remember the vam i'd post a pic but i'm not in a hunting mood just now.
to be fair, running around today was NOT nearly as hectic as i thought it was going to be, thankfully. ironically the most frustrating this i dealt with was just finding the proper places to make my donations. really worked for them this round. sheesh. it is ok though. i have a theory that any numbskull can donate when it is convenient and easy, when there is resistance, that is usually when the real donations are made.
(to explain why i'm not in a hunting mood)
Thank you for embedding those images. That coin is really cool looking.

@AUandAG.... That is a great example you posted. I have not come across one like that at shows or shops (when I used to live where they have such things). Cheers, RickO
More Die polish!

YES, guys. It is my 1926s.

Just Amazing! How these remain to receive straight grades. Still anticipating to send in to get its true justice of the peculiar variety.

I would really like to see the 26-s in hand... not sure what to think or write without seeing it in hand. One asked for die polish and it was delivered in spades

I’ve got a group of 1959 Lincoln’s with a large amount of die polish

fwiw, there are at least several other vams in morgans and peace that have bonkers die polishing.
i used to joke years ago that some mint employees after having had an argument the night before with the wife or having some other unpleasant experience would come in the next day and the sparks would fly~!
Obv nice dmpl. Rev die polish and hazy.
I love the polish on this date and example. The PL/DMPL surfaces show it so amazing. I have seen several of them in the past and I think they are just so cool.
