What do you think is fair value for this monster?

Saw this monster and love the colors. Do you think it went for FMV? or if not what do you think its true value is?

I wouldn’t call it a monster but it’s a nice coin. Sold for $3290 in January so that seems like a pretty reasonable FV estimate (although I would have guessed just a bit less before I looked that up).

Very nice. I might have owned that one 15 years ago. Looks very familiar

I don't like it for more than $750, but different strokes I guess.

Yikes! ...for a common date Morgan Dollar in 65+?! From where do these buyers emanate and where do they go during MY auctions?? ;-)

edited to add: I wonder if the buyer will actually go through with the sale, or if we'll be seeing this "monster" again in the near future...

If the buyer was watching the coin the seller could have sent an offer. If buyer countered that offer and it sells it will still show selling at original price, that scenario happened to me. Seller shows he was accepting offers so my scenario is plausible. Probably sold less ( maybe much less) than $5k.

Except doesn't it then say "offer accepted" on the listing?

Just for general knowledge, a poster can copy and paste a photo or whole page as easy as copying and pasting an address.
Saves everyone the pain in going through two steps to see the photo, when their should be none.

Do you think I’m lying ? My scenario it didn’t say offer accepted either. The seller sent an offer on the side that must be the difference. Maybe this is the same maybe not but I can tell you there IS a scenario where a lower offer is accepted and the final price looks like I paid full price.

It doesn't always say offer accepted. I had a BIN listing on ebay this week. Someone made me a slightly lower offer via message and I extended an offer to them as a result. When they made the purchase the ebay sold record just shows it being sold at the BIN price. It doesn't have the line through with offer accepted.

According to one site it looks like $5k was indeed the final sale price. Not being a true auction format listing, one might want to consider taking the sale price with a small grain of salt.

It will only say "offer accepted" if the seller set up the listing with the "Best Offer" option. Otherwise it will not show as such.
    How's that for a redundant statement? :D

If this sale was entered in the PCGS Price Guide Auctions in the near future, would EBAY post as $5000 or the actual price accepted? If the buyer offer much less and it was accepted, I hope EBAY wouldn't publish $5000 as the selling price, could be very misleading.

If you look at the coin under the toning, there's an MS-64 coin there. The cheek is not that smooth. Still the toning is natural, which is better than some of these pieces which are "better coins through chemistry."

I thank my lucky stars that I never got into this market.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

If you like that type of toning, it is a monster, but some price for it. Here's another to follow to see if it sells. 1885-0 Morgan PCGS MS65 Monster Toning. No +, no CAC.

That is different than best offers.
