Name Those Sports

Our quarters are now Designer Coin series. It started with the State quarters. Then came the America the Beautiful. Currently we're in year one of American Women and next up: Youth Sports There will be 20 sport quarters... Can you name all 20?? What will they be? Some will be obvious...(This is just my list, I'm just guessing) BASEBALL *FOOTBALL *SOCCER *BASKETBALL *HOCKEY *VOLLEYBALL *LACROSSE *TENNIS *BADMINTON *TRACK *
Then it starts getting tougher... *GOLF *WRESTLING *BOWLING *SKATING *KARATE *GYMNASTICS *SKATEBOARDING *SWIMMING *SKIING *BICYCLING

but there can only be 20... what will be left out?? Some consider Chess a sport...some of the more obscure sports won't make the cut: ARCHERY *FISHING *ROCK CLIMBING *FENCING *KICK BOXING *HORSE RACING *BUNGEE JUMPING *SKY DIVING *WIND SURFING Of course many sports aren't Youth Sports...would Softball be considered different than Baseball? T-ball? Stickball? Handball? Which sports do you think will be making the cut to be honored on our quarters?

I’m a big youth sports guy and have coached several. 20 seems like a ton to me. We get a handful of women and 20 youth sports? Alright. (Sorry, just an aside, no one has to address that part now that it’s out of my brain)
On top of the big major ones, I’m guessing there will be one for some sort equestrian event and maybe even a rodeo one for the western kids (mutton busting, roping, barrel racing, or something).
Are e-sports big enough to make it into the top 20?

Someone suggested Rowing to me today. The more I look at the suggested sports, I like @TomB 's suggestion Rock Climbing, the more I think about it, it's common to find climbing walls.

The mint is ready with a sports survey, do we really influence what sports will be chosen?

"In 2027, the United States Mint will release its newest quarters program highlighting youth sports played in the United States! This new program is scheduled to deploy in 2027 and last through 2030. Completing this survey helps the U.S. Mint identify which youth sports themes should be considered for the new quarters program."

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

What makes you think just twenty? The program as enacted is open-ended until Congress screws things up again.

    https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/1923/text

Section 5112 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:

    (z) Redesign and Issuance of Quarter Dollars and Half Dollars Emblematic of Sports Played by American Youth.--
    (1) Redesign of quarter dollars beginning in 2027.--
    (A) <> In general.--
Effective beginning January 1, 2027, notwithstanding the fourth sentence of subsection (d)(1) and subsection (d)(2), the Secretary shall issue quarter dollars that have designs on the reverse selected in accordance with this subsection which are emblematic of sports played by American youth.
    (B) Flexibility with regard to placement of inscriptions.--Notwithstanding subsection (d)(1), the Secretary may select a design for quarter dollars referred to in subparagraph (A) in which--
    (i) the inscription described in the second sentence of subsection (d)(1) appears on the reverse side of any such quarter dollars; and
(ii) any of the inscriptions described in the third sentence of subsection (d)(1) or the designation of the value of the coin appear on the obverse side of any such quarter dollars.
    (C) Single sport on each quarter dollar.--The design on the reverse side of each quarter dollar issued under this subsection shall be emblematic of one sport played by American youth.
    (D) Issuance of quarter dollars emblematic of up to five sports each year.--The designs for the quarter dollars issued during each year of the period referred to in paragraph (5) shall be emblematic of up to five sports.
    (E) Selection of sports generally.--The Secretary shall select the sports to be honored during each year of the period referred to in paragraph (5) after appropriate outreach and consultation with the public.

So the mint came up with noneless than 58 Youth Sports. I looked at their list and see we missed quite a few, I don't know why we didn't think of Bocce, Squash, Orienteering, Jiu-Jitsu, and Water Polo...

I think they missed a good one here:

And looking at the responses, I got a smile with:

Lol...leave it to Ricko to suggest Hatchet Throwing...

Well the mint states: "This new program is scheduled to deploy in 2027 and last through 2030.
5 a year, 4 years... and I'm only guessing they can't wait to release another series like American Men Quarters Program perhaps...

I have to drop junior off after school to his Cricket match today, or is it the Water Polo match?? He's so active in his school youth sports that I really can't keep track. Oh, now I remember, it's the Competitive Dance Scholastic Quarter Finals.

Everyone should vote for "cricket", just to mess with them. ;)

Cricket quarters would be very popular exports to the rest of the English-speaking world. :D

More snowboarding coins please! I also voted for dodgeball since I was a former pro dodgeball player who played in the world championships on Fox sports and was paid. Those were the only 2 I cared to see in the list.
