NewP - 1837 Capped Bust quarter, PCGS MS64 CAC

Today, I received a really special type coin from Gerry Fortin (GFRC). It's a CAC-approved 1837 Bust 25c in PCGS MS64, B-2, R1.
My Seated 25c project has stalled out because it is near completion, and waiting for new coins during a hot market has become a dull pursuit. I therefore decided to build backwards in time by adding a Bust 25c.
This coin has truly original skin, subdued luster, and unbroken mint frost. There are subtle colors in varying shades that shift as the coin is viewed under different light sources. I would say the surfaces are close to a satin finish, but the coin is not for the lover of flashy 1881-S Morgan Dollars. The photo by GFRC shows a bit more contrast than what I'm seeing under incandescent lighting, since Gerry photographs his coins outdoors in natural sunlight.
This coin makes a nice complement to my 1838 CBQ in PCGS AU55, which has similar toning. I wish I had a good photo of the 1838 with my macro lens. Maybe I can shoot one this coming weekend.
MS64 CAC Bust quarters are not cheap, but they look pretty good compared to MS65 price levels. This coin has a single tick on the chin that keeps it in MS64, but it was good enough for a CAC bean. If there was ever a situation where it makes sense to buy an MS64 CAC instead of an MS65 without a sticker, here it is.
Edited to add: Woke up early and took some new pics with my macro lens.

@rhedden... That is a really nice coin Ron.... you did well. Cheers, RickO
Thanks so much, Rick! Now I just need to upgrade it with several other dates that have similar eye appeal. Anyone have an extra MS64 1823/2 laying around?
Very nice, fantastic coin.
Splendid coin!

Ron, I have an 1835 Capped Bust Qtr in PC 4. Its surfaces are clean, but yours has much more eye appeal and original skin.

Great coin!!
You know, if I had a common 1940 Washington quarter with the exact look and toning of your coin, I'd dip it!!
But to suggest a dipping of your coin would be just crazy talk.

This coin has really thick patina to the point where it subdues the luster. Someone must have been tempted to dip it at some point. I am glad they did not. The coin is strictly MS, and there are enough bright white CBQ out there as it is.
That's a gorgeous Capped Bust 25c. Very Nice!
Very handsome coin. Congratulations.
Frosty....I once owned an 1831 quarter PCGS MS64. This was in 2005. I had paid $2300 and sold it for $2500. It was in a rattler and the dealer I sold it to agreed with me it was 65 all day long. I blew the $$ on wine and women. Oh to be young and stupid again.
I shot some new photos of my 1838 CBQ in PCGS AU55 this evening. I located this one raw in an old Library of Coins album back in 2008 or so and submitted it myself. It's never been to CAC, and it never will be, given recent events! The 1838 CBQ gets overlooked a bit because an 1838 Reeded Edge half dollar is a fairly easy find. The quarters are not, especially in AU or better.
In other news, the $65 I spent on this macro lens was a good investment.
Well done
Herez my 37 B2's and 38 best B1 (only 1 die marriage)......... Yourz are awesome cool coins! Your '38 is an early die state, the one I show below is an LDS, yours are really cool both!
Very, very nice. I love Bust Quarters. I really feel like this is a sleeper series that is going to waken. I picked up a really nice AU recently. I wish they could all look like this - PCGS AU55
very nice coin - I like it a lot.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
Fully original, untouched surfaces on that 1835!
