Coin X Show Report

I left home on Wednesday morning for the Coin X show in St Charles, Missouri. After a long uneventful drive, I arrived at my hotel in late afternoon.
After a quick breakfast at the hotel on Thursday morning, I arrived at the St Charles Convention Center at 9:40. The Convention Center is a great facility with plenty of free parking. At the 10:00 opening time there were only about 40 people waiting to enter. I had a short conversation with Dimeman when I entered the show. I started on my rounds of the floor. I saw an 1869 Proof Set, without the Gold, in PCGS 63 and better. My first pass around the floor did not take very long because I found nothing in the cases that I needed to take out to see better.
There was one coin that a dealer had on his website that I wanted to see at the show. I went to his table to take a look at it. He was very busy showing his inventory to another dealer. So, I decided to come back later. After about 30 minutes I went back to his table. He was still busy with the same dealer. I decided to go to lunch. When I came back, he was still busy with the same dealer. A little later I went back to his table, and they were going through the invoice sheets of the dealer purchases. It was a very large total! I asked to see the coin that I saw on the website. He priced it at a fair price, and I stepped up to the plate.
There was nothing that I needed in the Scotsman Auction this time. I left the show in late afternoon.
On Friday morning I meet two of my cousins at a restaurant for breakfast. We had good food and good conversation. I left there and drove two hours to visit two other cousins on their farm. In midafternoon I headed back to the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, I got on the road for home. The drive was going very good for several hours. Then with very little warning the interstate was closed because of an accident. On the detour two trucks had wrecked on two different back roads. This caused the detour to be 73 miles long! Yes, 73 miles. Oh my gosh! After I got back on the interstate it started to rain. I finally got home a little before dark.
I thought that the show was very subdued. The July show at the same location was very active. I will have to think a long time about traveling so far to this show next November.

Appreciate the report!
Thanks for your report.
So what was the coin (if you care to share) that you did purchase? Sounds like the show was mostly a bust for you which is unfortunate.

Sometimes shows which are held multiple times in a year will have better or worse ones. The July one is a different organizer also. The Baltimore show is slowest and/or smallest in the summer. I also wonder if the Baltimore show the previous week kept some away or if there was another show elsewhere. I have not been to it in years but I believe it is the old silver dollar show which used to be a good regional show.

The coin was a little Gold coin with a little green sticker on the holder.
