Subject: Important Update for 2022 Award Winners.
Hello Collector,
You may have heard all the buzz coming out of the PCGS Set Registry Awards Luncheon held on September 29, 2022, at the Long Beach Expo.
This year, we are pleased to honor our Set Registry Award winners with a token of our appreciation. Introducing the PCGS Set Registry Awards collectible enamel pins!
The designs above for our inaugural collectible pin line up represent each award category. If a member were to win across multiple categories, our member will receive one pin from each of those award categories. If a member has won multiple awards in the same category, they will simply receive one pin for that specific category.
If you are a PCGS Set Registry Award winner for 2022, please make sure that your shipping address is up to date within your Set Registry Account Profile. Please update your address no later than 11/11/2022, if applicable. If your shipping address is not updated, we will ship the pins to the default address we have on file. Please keep your eye out for your pin(s) in the following weeks after the deadline.
Display your award with the same pride and effort you put into building your collection! Tag us @pcgscoin across all social media channels with your collectible enamel pin(s)! These collectible pins are our way of saying “thank you” for being among the best and brightest stars in the PCGS Set Registry community.
We are proud to honor our members’ accomplishments and thank you all for participating within the PCGS Set Registry.
Best regards,
Jamie Kiskis

That is a nice innovation. I am sure this will add to the fun and attraction of the Registry fields. Cheers, RickO
Spoke with PCGS this afternoon and they said that all awards and pins will be mailed out by late November or early December.

Fun!
Sure beats the nothing that they have been handing out in previous years.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Congratulations to all winners!😎
I just hope they make stickers (maybe included in submissions) so I can put one on my laptop.
Or have they already done that?

Clarification please. So for those of us that are ranked #1 in a Registry set, and have the little blue star 2022 rectangle applied by our set, will we be getting the “Best of Registry” pin, or is that pin for those with a bigger accomplishment?

My collecting “Pride & Joy” is my PCGS Registry Dansco 7070 Set:

Is PCGS doing away with the plaques they used to hand out in previous years?
As it was explained to me,
you will receive one best of registry pin no matter how many registry sets that you own that are ranked #1.
I have 10 sets this year that are ranked #1 “best of registry” but I will only receive one pin in total.
I assume that this will hold true for the other categories as well. One pin per category no matter how many sets that you have that meets that pin’s requirements.

Kennedys are my quest...
I am not sure on any “metal” plaques, but you will still receive the paper / cardboard ones upon requests.
My understanding is the “pins” are an addition to and not a replacement of.

Kennedys are my quest...
The only thing that I can say here is to give them a call and make your suggestion directly to them.
I am unaware of any stickers being offered at this time by PCGS.

Wayne,
This is what the plaques looked like:
Can you get the pins graded and slabbed? Then you can start a pin registry set.
Congratulations on your plaque.
It is a very nice plaque and achievement.
I am truly envious that it was a Kennedy set award.
I do not see PCGS discontinuing the plaques as they are inscribed with your name and the set's name that achieved that award. The pins do not.
Did they misspell the "(1964 to Presewnt)" labeling?
It is a shame if they did, and it should have been replaced.

Kennedys are my quest...
No one seems to proofread anymore.
(LOL)
Wayne - Yes, we noticed that too, but we collect Kennedy ERRORS also.

As you know, so do I.
Nice set of unique errors you have there. It is quite an accomplishment.
My sets are a work in progress when it comes to filling in the complete variety types. Always looking for the higher grades at the right price but not in a hurry to fill holes just to do so.

Kennedys are my quest...
Plaques are DONE.
FINISHED.
OVER.
END OF AN ERA.
I'll be the bearer of bad news here folks, but when I was notified that 11 of my sets had won Gold status for this year and was asked how I wanted my sets listed / named on the PCGS website, I responded as I usually do, with my request for how I wanted the sets listed on the website and how I wanted my plaques to read.
I got this response:
"...while we will not be issuing plaques this year, we will still be honoring our award winners, just in a different fashion."
When I pressed and asked just HOW the award winners were to be honored, I got THIS response:
"...In regards to how we will be rewarding members, we ask that you stay tuned as I have been asked not to disclose any information at this time."
TRANSLATION:
PCGS is going to go cheap, it will NOT be an improvement. They will NOT be "raising the bar".
PCGS will raise prices on grading services, you will wait longer for your coins to be returned, we will give you a cheap piece of pot metal sourced from China for your award, and somebody in an office will get a huge raise and promotion for saving PCGS tons of money on awards and shipping.
By shipping one pin per award category, they have effectively reduced their awards costs exponentially, as well as their shipping costs. They can toss these pins in a padded envelope and send them cheaper than plaques ever cost. Oh, and I'd guess they will NOT be engraved or personalized since they cover MULTIPLE sets per award category. But please, by all means, PLEASE swamp their emails and phone lines and ask if the pins will be engraved, bahahahaha....
I can get coins graded at NGC without paying an annual extortion fee (lifetime ANA member, no annual "club fee" with NGC); PCGS has become a sports-card grading company, and they treat coins like widgets and coin collectors like idiots.
Registry Set Winners: enjoy your SINGLE pin per award category for all of your hard work and grading fees to support these idiots. Plaques are DONE. You are now being "honored in a different fashion".
After getting multiple plaques annually since 2016, this is an insult and a major indication that PCGS is telling collectors that they are basically irrelevant. I can go to coin shows and walk by booths and get free enamel pins from companies promoting their services; I can also get free lanyards that are actually USEFUL to hang a loupe from.
Big shout out to NGC - they are the big winners here folks. They will be getting my grading fees from now on.
I doubt very seriously that I'll be the only one that says "yeah, no thanks PCGS...".
It will be interesting to see others' comments and responses when they realize that "gee, no more plaques, and no real incentive to compete in the Registry Sets any more, but here's a token of our appreciation of you as a collector in the form of a pin to hold your grocery list on your cork board by the fridge as we honor you in a different fashion..."
I'll buy it when the family sells it on ebay.
Hoard the keys.
How long before several of the pins get sold on fleaBay?

Recieved a best of registry pin at at the Long Beach PCGS Awards luncheon.
I have 7 or 8 of those nice award plaques from previous years.
Manager told me it was too much to manage the old plaque award program anymore.
So they needed something quick , cheaper and quicker to produce without production problems and delays..
My hats off to the PCGS family 👍👌
