For Grading Opinions: 1899 Morgan Dollar

What do you think of her?
What grade do you think PCGS would give it if I submitted it?
Thanks!

Strong XF45.
A light cleaning (baking soda?) keeps it from AU, in my opinion.

Can't get a good feel for the luster in that photo. It does look to have some wear from circulation, and perhaps a cleaning. Maybe 50?
I would say an XF45....Cheers, RickO
Cleaned XF45. Not worth slabbing. OK for an album.
I think AU50 details cleaning.
45, cleaned. There is no economic reason to slab it, IMO.
Cleaned, XF 40 details
Luster would be key on that to determine grade which is hard to see.
I think your white balance is off, which will affect the guessed grades. Regardless, I see the coin as going from EF45 through AU50.
The better question, in my opinion, is why would you want to sink $40-$50 into grading a coin that is common and worth $125-$175?

I grade it... Album Coin. That is a nice look for someone assembling a Whitman blue bookshelf or Dansco set
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
45
I would say 40.
I see enough remaining luster to believe the coin may not be cleaned but rather just poorly photographed. If that's the case it's only AU 53ish IMO.
Possibly because I got it for a pretty decent price--and I never said for sure that I was going to submit it.

I'll update this thread with some better pictures soon (prob. sometime tomorrow). I was trying a new setup for those photos and I guess they didn't come out the greatest

AU details - appears cleaned to me.
XF 40
Initial impression was AU50
You can get $175 for a cleaned, flat XF '99 Morgan? I really need to pay more attention.
XF Details
I was wavering between xf45 and au50, I’ll go au50 details and a likely prior cleaning.

40
AU-50 at best. It might go a little lower, like EF-45, because of the stain on the reverse. It's not worth the slab fee.
I believe that is actually a lamination...

XF details, RGDS!
Yeah, several more scratches present in the latest pictures. I'm still at AU 50 now.
The new photos are much better and show more luster.
I’m in the AU camp now.
