1797 Half Dime with nice blue obv toning

I’d love to better photograph the blues… I need to submit this for reholder service and Trueview. Scratchy holder. It’s a Green CAC’er. It’s not Tier 2 though at over $10k, so I’d be concerned with getting it restickered with the hold and changes going on there right now.

It's a beautiful looking coin and deserves better photos.

Looks like a fantastic example. Beautiful color. Too bad the holder looks like it's been laying on Interstate 5 for six months.

there are more than enough threads/pics with how to clean up various slabs to prevent the need for redholdering. :)

i've seen some IMPRESSIVE results. :)

    lovely coin!

Awesome awesome coin! I agree better photos are needed and I vote for reholder.

TVs are really awesome, great value for the money, and it's neat they follow the cert # rather than only being viewable to others in a registry set (like if you take your own pictures or have one of the many talented photographers here do it for you).

I just bought my tickets to Vegas to have a box of coins reholdered and imaged. And cert numbers will stay the same so the CAC registry will stay up to date and I can send them in for resticker at my leisure in the future.

You could save the postage and polish the holder with headlight polish. All it takes is some elbow grease. I have done it many times.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

If that's an OGH just polish it up! You can get in holder TVs too!

I agree, the holder can be polished, and save the fees. Try it and show the results. Cheers, RickO

Another thing you can do, if you mainly want nice photos, is to put a puddle of mineral oil on the slab over the coin and photo through that. The scratches vanish in the photos. clean up with tissue and windex.(tip from Broadstruck)

I would reholder. Gold shield, new fresh plastic, true view. 👍

Submit it to CAC for one of the new CAC slabs.

I'll just never understand how the slabs that really nice/valuable coins are in get so scuffed up. :#

The slab polishing worked great. Especially with a drill bit pad. Would still like better images though. Thanks for the recommendations. 👍
