Do you think this is removable via conservation?

I am not sure about this one... old PCGS blue holder
Fairly expensive coin, disappointing verdigris or corrosion spot on the reverse. Can something like this even be removed without further impairment?

Does that fall under the PCGS guarantee? I wonder if it was there when it was holdered. I'd say that it would not look good if removed...most likely.

Remove it and leave another odd looking spot. Sorry...
I don't know if old holder copper falls under the guarantee or not, I know color designation coverage is out. This is in a 65RD holder.

Sorry, don't think so.
The PCGS guarantee does NOT cover:

Here's the full reverse. Shame because otherwise it's a pretty nice coin.

Otherwise I would say it's a very nice coin myself. Congrats on the acquisition either way. Enjoy it for what it is!

I don't know. That looks like it might come off to me. It will leave something behind, however, even if it just an untoned area. Still, I think it would be worth having someone look at it.

Yes, have a Lincoln Cent person look at it. I saw a high grade Liberty Nickel with gunk removed and it left what Laura called 'stains' where the gunk was. The grade of the coin was not affected, but I'll bet the coin looked better with the gunk than the 'stains' I saw on it.

Thanks, I am not going to do anything with it and was already sending it back. For the price it is not worth the risk, there is also a spot on the rim at about 8:00 that looks like it might grow. I worry that this coin may be ticking.

Good call. I've tried the services a couple of times with IHC's thinking perhaps "carbon" could be removed at or near the rim. No dice.
That spot, if removed, would likely leave an area discolored by the presence of whatever it is. If it bothers you now, it will always bother you. Good decision to send it back. Cheers, RickO
Forget conservation. That type of black spot can't be removed without screwing up the coin.
