Working on draped bust half cent collection

Getting ready to start working on the harder portion of the half cents, the capped bust collection. Don't know how far I will get, but its fun regardless. All of the coins showing Rotated Dies are actual. Looking for an 06 to replace the holed 06 which had a nice Rotated Die to it. I plan on selling many extras and using that to upgrade the draped bust collection and maybe replacing the 02c. Only, wish I had started this waaaaay sooner. lol

Nicely matched, save the hole that is.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I love these coins. I collected them by Cohen die variety from the mid 1980s until the early 1990s. The collection hit a wall because I could add any more varieties. and I ended by giving up on it. I still have a four of the pieces left from the group.
1800 is one of my favorite dates because the reverse was left over from the 1790s.
This is the first of the spiked chin varieties. There are four of them, with different reverses.
The obverse die was injured with the spiked chin while this die pair was in the press. My theory, and that of some others, is that a screw got between the dies and injured them. The obverse got the spiked chin, and the reverse got the big crack that you seen running across the middle, through the letter "L" in "HALF." This somewhat scare variety is rated R-4, 76 to 200 known survivors.
This 1806 C-4 (Red Book variety Large 6 with stems) might be the common piece in Mint State. There was a partial keg of them that the Chapman Brothers had in the early 1900s. Ironically the coin is not easy to find with eye appeal in the circulated grades. The piece is often weakly struck at the top of the reverse.
This 1807 half cent is unusual because it is an early die state with denticles still visible. Most 1807 half cents don't show this feature, which makes this piece a minor rarity.
Your 1802 appears to be the reverse of 1800 type, which would be extremely rare - especially in a grade that high, but its hard to tell from the photo.

No question it is the reverse of 1800, but unfortunately it is a copy that I picked for its color to fill a hole a long time away in filling possibilities as I wouldn't have the ones I can afford.

BTW, the reason for the holed 06 is that I wanted a Rotated Die with stems and was able to pick this one up cheaply to fill the hole in the color I wanted. All the coins are rotated dies except for the 02 Copy.

Bill,
Is your 06 a Rotated Die?

Half cents are interesting coins.... Imagine buying something for half a cent, or a cent and a half... Cheers, RickO
From what I have read the half cent did not do well as it made the users/carrier feel inferior for having such a low denomination coin as being poor.

I'll have to look. It's in the bank. I have never paid much attention to that because rotated dies didn't used to make any difference in the value. I know that most all of the 1808, regular date half cents are rotated 180 degrees.
