Call on GSA Morgans
Out of the blue I get a call from local gentleman's family. I knew "Ed" since the 70s, he worked for Mobil as a chemical engineer, was lucky to get early and retire early. The daughters call me out of the blue, were dialing through dealer listings called me and a couple others, they are settling the estate. The only really better date was the 1879-cc. It looked MS63 or maybe 63+ to me. Other dates were 1880-1885. Most looked 62-64 at the very most. I told them the 79--cc could be worth $7500 if graded, but most of the common dates had softened recently. My estimate of what wholesale buyers would pay for the 82-84cc dates was $250-$275. I showed them the Greysheet pricing on the 80, 81, and 85 gsas too. Seemed liked they were going to get several estimates.

That was what piqued my interest when they called earlier. This was a typical initial inquiry. They will get some offers from others in no hurry to sell.
Northern Nevada Coin is the biggest buyer of CC Morgan’s according to my local coin shop.I see them selling for 14,000 for MS-64 and 9,800 /9,500 for MS-63.for a 1879-CC..
P.S.I was at the Northern Nevada booth in Las Vegas at a coin show held at the Palace Station Casino and held a 1889-CC priced at $45.000.That was kinda cool.No I didn’t buy it!
Nice call to get.... Could result in some business. Cheers, RickO
One of the main reasons I go to Long Beach is to view and hold in my hand truly amazing coins I will never be able to afford. Things like an MS 65 BN 1794 Strawberry Leaf Large Cent and a PF 65 Gobrecht Dollar. The all there 1895 O Dime in MS 65 was nice as well.
