I have two 1879s ms64 Morgan dollars a pcgs and a ngc,
I am torn since I don’t need two, therefore if these coins were yours which one would you keep and which one would you get rid of and why?
Thank you in advance for your comments.
I apologize for my pictures.

While the PCGS coin holds a bit more value because of its holder, i would keep the NGC as its obverse looks nicer in the pics
I would go with the PCGS, based on the data provided.
Granted I’m looking on a phone, they both look very similar in appearance, so I would go on the aesthetics and liquidity of the PCGS holder.

Normally ANACS is my least favorite, but I have an 1879-S, also in a 64, but it has great eye appeal, so always look at the coin first and foremost.

I'd take the PCGS as the splotch on the point of the neck on the NGC coin I find distracting. Also the two lines between her nose and star 6 on the NGC coin kinda look like a bit of snot she sneezed out. Plus the OGH is more desirable than a that NGC slab if you were to resell one day.
I’d keep the NGC example because the PCGS one looks stained/splotchy on the face (edited to add: and in the left obverse field) with negative eye appeal. And I care much more about the coin than the holder.

NGC coin looks better IMO
Another vote for the NGC based on the coin appearing to look better (PCGS example seems to have staining/haziness on the obverse).
Putting plastic brand loyalty aside and treating each coin based on its own merit-I like the PCGS coin better.

I would sell both and upgrade into one.

If you’re putting the plastic aside, your preference for the PCGS coin really surprises me. What about it do you like better? And how do you get past the obverse staining/splotchiness?

The NGC coin appears to be more mark free and certainly more attractive than the PCGS coin. Pretty easy decision for me.

Keep the NGC and sell the other one. Eye appeal is the deciding factor for me.
^^This.
And I concur with most in here that say the coin in the NGC slab looks better.

I like the NGC; but, if you can, I'd consider upgrading to a higher grade with a sticker.
Sell both coins and use the cash to upgrade. You should be able to buy an MS65 if you sell both MS64 coins.
Thank you for the comments.
I must be getting old I didn’t even think about selling both and then getting a ms65 or higher. I like this idea.🙂
I would keep the NGC coin since the aesthetics appear to be better. A lot more chatter on Liberty in the PCGS coin. Cheers, RickO
Two nice old holders, but neither appears to be an 'A or even B' coin for MS64. Agree sell both, should be easy in the old holders, and get a better coin 64CAC or a high end 65 with booming luster.
Would be the PCGS for me, the NGC holders don’t fit in my PCGS plastic containers!!
The NGC coin seems like it has a long streak or scratch from the center of the cheek down through the neck. That distracts me more.

Thank you.

Based on the IMAGES provided, no way could I decide which coin I like better. That would have to be an in hand decision for me, as both appear accurately graded and have a similar look / feel.
The cheek and front field appears cleaner on the PCGS coin, and all other things equal (they're not, of course) that would be my first focus.

NGC is what I too would keep.

Keep the one you like best.
Send them both to me and then you won't have to choose.
