God willing and the creek don't rise I should be there on Saturday. Looking forward to it. Haven't been to a show of any size in eons.
Attending this show is a possibility for me.
Their is $2.00 off coupon on the webpage if they ever fixed the link. Seems like the show has been on the decline with less dealers at each show. Also the hotel the Doubletree charges $10 Validated Parking FEE and no street parking.
Show info
https://griffincoin.com/coin-shows
I think there must be street parking around the hotel
but never the less..
"$10 flat fee for parking per car - must validate parking stub"
Parking refund available through selected dealer transactions
I forgot unless they changed the streets around the area are marked NO street parking.
Seems to me kind of heavy handed to have to pay a **“discounted rate ** and only at selected dealers. Wonder what the minimum amount will be?
Hotel charges $30 with no in and out.
The mailing has no mention of parking charge and not being in area where it is normal for it to be
Small office buildings.
Imo not a very consumer oriented show forcing you to buy at selected dealers or pay s30 regular rate parking.
Enjoy the show if you go and find a cool coin or two
Show reports please.... Attendance, sales volume, bullion sales, wine and dine selections, quality of hot dogs and mustard.... Cheers, RickO
I'm going Friday AM. I think this is the first time parking has not been free with validation. $10 makes it a bit unattractive for just a casual stroll around, which is usually all I get from these shows. My main collecting interest is Lincoln Wheat Cent BU rolls, and few dealers bring them, but...if you are a dealer going to the show, please bring rolls with you as I am a strong buyer!

And lots of pics please! 😁
I’m hoping to go on Friday morning if my work schedule cooperates. Last year there was $10 validated parking for all attendees; I imagine it will be the same this year.
Thanks for sharing! I could literally walk to it after work on Friday
Already let Scott know, I will be there Friday morning as the doors open (if the 880 cooperates).
I'll be the dork with a ROMA baseball cap on (6'2" about 180# on a good day. Blond hair, blue eyes. Required diamond stud earring in left ear).
Tim
BTW, the dealer list keeps growing. Even includes an old country singer now:
Tim
I’d go, but I don’t know how to get there! Do you know the way to San Jose? I asked a lady calling herself Dionne Warwick for directions, but she didn’t know either.

I'll either wear my Zeiss or Blackhawks hat... Now just 2 days away...
Two great hats!

When will the coin shows return to Alameda?
To answer my own question: try Vacaville?
https://www.coinshows-usa.com/coin-shows-this-week.php
Anyone that plans are going to this willing to look for a few coins for me?
PM me, if interested for the details.
Thanks

I’m sure interested in going. IF everything goes right I’ll be there and hopefully run into some of you.
I will be attending tomorrow morning for a few hours.
Looking forward to some hobby time in an air conditioned bourse (still roasting in No. Cal., with triple digits being the norm for the next couple of days).
I think the closest shows to Alameda would be the Concord and Walnut Creek shows. I regularly attend the shows in San Jose, Sacramento, Concord and Walnut Creek (only once a year for this show). One will see a lot of same dealers and the same coins at all these shows but I still enjoy the camaraderie.
Here is a site with more information about the shows:

Tim
Why isn’t Witter Coin setting up at the show?
Yes, great question. They travel all over the country but can’t make an appearance at a local show?
Guess we’ll have to spend our money at the other bourse tables.
Tim
Hello All,
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that reached out and responded to me. I am overwhelmed by the response that I I've received to help me find these coins and continue my coin collecting pursuits.
It isn't often I can get out to a show so I do appreciate all of you being able to take some of your precious time to look for a few of these coins I need.
Please, if any of you ever need help finding a coin do not hesitate to call on me. I will try my best to help you out as you have done for me, I just hope I can return the favor.
I hope you all have a great time at the show and find what you are looking for.
Thanks for taking the time and hopefully you are successful in locating the few coins that I need and collect the finders fee.
This is such a great forum, with wonderful people that can come together to help and support fellow collectors.

Of all days, my hot-water heater went out (probably because of the excessive heat!), I have to wait for a technician, won't make the show today, hopefully tomorrow!!! Enjoy those who attend today!
Hey @Joe_360 - I was looking for your hat this morning. Sorry you couldn't make it. I will post a longer report later but I was on a mission. Arrived around 9:15ish after almost two hours on the 80/880. Did my rounds, picked up some goodies and was back on the road by 10:30. Made it home (Hercules) in an hour.
Tim
Yeah, I'll plan on tomorrow now, I have to put up with 101. The trip there will be okay but heading back to Gilroy might be a challenge... I'll be looking for Franklin's and a 1884 CC Morgan,,,
Went to the San Jose show today.
Arrived a little after 10:00 a.m. Admission was $4.00. Parking was free as coin show attendees were able to have their parking tickets validated. Expenses to get to the show were gasoline for the roughly 90 mile round trip and show admission fee. Not too bad.
The bourse room was comfortable, with wide aisles, carpeting and (thank goodness) air conditioning.
Foot traffic on the bourse was steady during the approximate 2 hours I was there. Attendance was so-so in numbers. Not jam packed to where the aisles were blocked; and not so light that one could have an aisle to yourself. Unlike other shows I have attended recently where the crowd was very "diverse", the crowd on the bourse this morning skewed to mostly older males.
While at the show I:
a. cruised the bourse multiple times;
b. conversed with some dealers;
c. sold some boxed proof sets from the early 1950s (I am selling off unwanted duplicates);
d. picked up a 1962 proof set in OGP (since it contains a lock Cameo half dollar [a very nice widget]);
e. looked for but did not find proof sets from 1936, 1937 and 1938 (needed to complete run of 1936 - 1970 proof and SMS sets);
f. looked at some Barber half dollars; and
g. showed my recently graded toned proof 1954-1960 Franklin half dollars to the dealer I purchased them from last year (he was impressed at the grade results).
Getting out of the office this Friday morning for some hobby time was great.
Make sure you let us know next week how your Forum helpers did for you in looking for a few of the coins on your want list. I hope they find a few for you. I’m sure it didn’t hurt offering a “Finders Fee”.

Since nobody on this great forum took the time to even PM me to ask what I needed I doubt that I will be spending any finders fee's
Very disappointed to say the least

I don’t know what to say. I’ve received tremendous help from forum members. Obviously, with questions answered and information provided, all of which makes me a more knowledgeable collector than before.
Over the next few days I’ll be posting about my unique IHC set, and describing the phenomenal help I’ve received from a myriad of collectors and dealers to help me complete this set. The help has been so great that without it, I’d now be very far from completion.
My sense is that the topic of this post kept the majority of forum members from seeing your request. In a way, one might say your request was buried. I truly believe that if more eyeballs (as Laura would say) saw your request, you would have received offers of help.
I’ll be at Winter FUN every day this coming January, with plenty of available time to search for a small list for you. No finders fee will be necessary.

If you don't mind, I will tag onto your report, @SanctionII.
As I mentioned in my note to @Joe_360, I arrived early (9:15ish) after a 47 mile but nearly two hour drive down the east shore "freeway". They allowed me to pay and check in but not enter until exactly 10 AM. I was at the front of a small group of collectors.
I did two quick laps looking for old PCGS and NGC holders. I believe there was only one Rattler in the room and nothing super collectible so I turned my attention to bullion. There were some great deals to be had despite the recent precious metals price uptick. In all, I purchased the followed from two different dealers:
I love these Valcambi CombiBars, even though this one was missing the assay card:
And I couldn't stay away from the chunky APMEX stackable kilo at the price they quoted ($100 below the price on APMEX's website):
Another great deal was this box of 24 1 oz assay bars (which they said was 25 bars):
The one slab purchase was an old Accugrade holder which only says "Florida" on the reverse. @BStrauss3 or @86Saab - any ideas on the version or history?
Lastly and what I consider the day's biggest prize was a 2022 Queen Elizabeth II 250 gram bar sealed bar. I thought for sure they would be asking for a premium but this was not the case:
I chatted with Scott Griffin for a few minutes and then headed to the exit. As @SanctionII noted, it was a sparse crowd with plenty of room to roam when I left at 10:30. However, contrary to what @SanctionII said, I had to pay $5 for parking even with my validated ticket.
Tim
Sorry but I do not understand your approach. You have no skin in the game and did not publish a want list or a contact number. Are you looking for a 1916slq in P5 with CAC or a 1913-s dime in vg? No one knows. You put so little effort in your request that it doesn't surprise me that you didn't get any takers.
You are asking another member to invest dollars in your need if I understand you correctly.
If you are looking for specific items, Why not just list a wanted to buy in BST? That way someone can print it out and flag a vendor and let the vendor determine if they want to do mail-order with you.
Nice pick up on those Assay bars, even if it was short 1oz.
Sorry to hear that. I would have taken you up but living in Sacramento and having been to a lot of shows recently I couldn't find a good reason to sit in traffic for 7 hours round trip. Happy to help from the November Sacramento show if you still need a hand!
All I asked is that anyone going to the show to PM me and I would tell them what I was looking for, that's all! I never said or expected someone to shell out money!!! All I wanted is for them to ASK a dealer if they had any of the TWO coins I am looking for, if the dealer DID have any to then give him my information (which I would have provided in the PM) and get the dealers information and foward it to me, that's it.
I do have it on the BST board, for what it's worth, if you would have looked
I also didn't want to highjack this thread by putting in my info, just to have anyone PM me for the details if they were interesed.
Not sure what "You have no skin in the game" means...........

Thanks, I only asked that of people that planned on going. Thanks for the offer for the Sacramento show, I'll let you know.
You can look on the BST for the coiins I'm looking for.

I thought Seth Chandler owns Witter Coins?
"Owns" is a strong word but yes, that is his business. His post and my response were both tongue in cheek.
Tim
@alaura22 - my apologies. I was on a very short leash today as I had to be back for a meeting. I am planning to attend the Sacramento show later this month and the Walnut Creek show in early October if you want me to shop for you. I love to spend other collector's money.
Tim
Colton and I went for a few hours. Bought about 40 coins and 10 books. A few monster Indian Head Cents.
Fun show.
I never went to a coin show I didn’t like😀
Seth - did you buy the books from Ken Barr? He has an awesome assortment.
Tim
@pointfivezero S&G was one of the Accugrade licensees... not sure which type (you could buy your own setup [25k] or send the coins and labels to be encapsulated for a per-coin charge). A lot of the latter were really FPG, not TPG.
I'd have bought that in a heartbeat if I'd seen it.

Thanks for the background, Burton. No way I was leaving the bourse floor without it in my pocket.
Tim
@pointfivezero Burton covered most of the info. Here is a thread from CoinTalk with another similar slab and Conder's input:
"In the mid 90's ACG WOULD set you up with the equipment and supplies for you to have your own grading service for 25K. (But for that they would design a shell for your service, They weren't ACG shells, or at least they didn't have the ACG initials o the shell.) But around 2002 they came up with a new deal. For just a few hundred they would license you for an encapsulation service. Then for a small fee per coin you could send coins in and they would encapsulate them in ACG shells under your company name at whatever grade you specified. They made it a point to stress that ACG would do NO grading of the coins. Supposedly there were 14 companies that took licenses but I have only traced I believe 4 of them. This is one of the encapsulation service companies. Two of the others were S&G Coins out of Florida and the most commonly seen one CCC out of Ohio."
https://www.cointalk.com/threads/national-grading-service-slab-acg-type-holder-any-info.269336/
Great info, @U1chicago. I would have to say, whomever did the grading on this Morgan was pretty conservative:
Thank you for sharing the information.
