2022 NFL picks contest 🏈🏈🏈🏈

doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ok, it's getting close to showtime and I don't see any volunteers, so I guess I'll attempt to run the picks contest this year. Oh mercy, I'm in over my head here, so you're going to have to bear with me and maybe even help me out at times. I don't know how to post graphs and all that stuff, so I'm just going to present the schedule week by week and you can post your picks on this thread. Please keep an eye on your win-loss records and let me know if I make any mistakes. We're going to pick every game each week, and I will update the standings as we go along. This weeks picks must be in before the start of the season opener Thursday, and after that your picks must be in before the games start at 1 p.m. every Sunday. As for a prize, we will figure that out later, I will probably let the winner select something of desire from ebay. All participants in the contest must be entered before the season opener Thursday, there will be no late entries afterwards. If an injury occurs and you want to change a pick, just edit your picks and make the change BEFORE the start of the game you are changing. I will check everyone's picks after the weeks games to update the standings. So, without further ado, let's get started, here is the schedule for week 1.

I will admit that I picked the Pats a lot last year. The Pats and the Cowboys. Why? LOL. But I do see us winning week 1.

I actually struggled with picking a winner in the Pats vs Dolphins game, Miami had a good run towards the end of last season, and with Tua healthy and the addition of Tyreek Hill, I have to tell you this game scares me, but I decided to go with the Pats.

I assume that this goes without saying, but in the OP you say that picks must be in before the first Sunday game. We all know that there is a Thursday game too. Why am I mentioning this? for no good reason

Oh no, I knew this was going to get confusing, I suck at stuff like this. Some mornings I can't even remember where I put my shoes, how am I going to run a contest!

I'll give it my best shot, we'll get through this somehow, I'll just have to work on my confidence. Maybe I'll study some film of Dr. Van Nostrand, he's the definition of confidence.

I only care about 2 games (unless Allen goes down hurt with the Bills and Keenum is up)

    Texans over the Colts
Chargers over the Raiders in a high scoring game.

Good luck to all of the contestants, not an easy task to pick accurately all games.

As a Patriots fan, I dislike the Bills, but I hate LA. An LA win helps the Patriots, but the Pats need to do it on their own. So I hope Buffalo wins.

You are not alone in feeling conflicted about this matchup. As I type this it is halftime. Game tied. I picked the Bills in our contest. Yet I know a Bills loss helps the Pats. Beyond that, I understand you. But every Bills loss will help the Pats.

The Bills now lead β€œThe Lads from La-La Land” by 21. Now if La could lose the next 16 games, it would be a good season for them.

I'm totally fine with losing my Rams pick but I just got to mention how absolutely ridiculously STUPID the Bill's and Josh Allen are for him running the football up 31-10 with 6 minutes to go.

    Absolutely moronic behavior

I dont watch every Bills game, but this was something I have heard discussed over the last couple of years. I assumed they would tone down the unnecessary runs this year, but apparently not.

There was one play where the Rams defenders almost made a broken wishbone out of Allen when they were taking him down. One leg was way up in the air. Words were exchanged by both teams.

Yep. One hit that goes wrong, and the Patriots’ season will start looking a lot better.

As for star quarterbacks when you are playing LA, just ask the Eagles fans about Carson Wentz. Some say he was targeted in that game. It changed his career forever. It’s a one of the reasons why I dislike the Rams.

That game provided evidence to support players needing to play during the pre-season. LA especially looked pathetic. I suppose Stafford will lead the NFL in int's this season, he's off to a good start!!

A second thought after seeing some of the commentary by the "talking heads" who are ready to just give the SB to the Bills is simple: it's not the team that wins the first game, it's the team that wins the last game.

That's why I like the Vikings against the Packers, Rodgers never plays during the pre season and
Green Bay historically gets off to a slow start.
With the Rams looking that bad it will be interesting to follow them the next several weeks to see if
they can put up a respectable fight to retain the NFC crown.

Green Bay got slaughtered week 1 last year

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yes, but you're all forgetting something, Aaron Rodgers is no longer an ordinary man, he's an action movie hero, with super powers, put the bunny back in the box!
